Happy Halloween!!!!

Spiderman and Bumblebee made their appearance tonight! The boys were wild with excitement and didn't cooperate much with picture taking. Little Juliet celebrated her 2nd birthday today and really loved trick or treating as Abby Cadaby. Her big brother Scott was a cowboy and Theo loved his hat! Poor Theo is cutting 2 of his 2 year old molars and is drooling right now.

Dave dressed up as Run DMC to pass out candy. We sure love dressing up around here :-) Jack met up with his friend Bradley from school (he was a doctor). They ran off and trick or treated together for a little bit. We also met up with Alyssa and Aidan. Aidan wore Theo's costume from last year and was a very cute little Robin.

Jack helped up pass out candy. Is it me or do kids lack manners when trick or treating? Less than half actually said "trick or treat" and some said nothing at all!! At least I'm raising my kids to be polite and always say thank you after getting candy!!

Jack's class party

Jack's class celebrated Halloween today with a little party. The kids sang music outside with Ms. Vacante and then headed in for the fun. There are 20 kids in his class this year, so the little party was pretty big in actuality. The kids decorated cookies as their craft. Theo participated and then didn't eat the cookie. Jack only ate the cookie and didn't decorate. Go figure!

Most of the parents created treat bags for the kids so Jack came home with a bag brimming with treats. You can only imagine! We're really going to be in for it after Saturday. Maybe the candy fairy will have to come visit and trade the candy out for some other kind of treat!

Jack was too engrossed with eating sugary snacks to pose for many pictures. Here is one with his friends, Graysen and Bradley. They are like the Three Musketeers. I need a sedative after trying to keep tabs on Theo during the party and trying to navigate through the sea of people to interact with Jack. I'm thinking Theo might go to the sitter's house for the Christmas party!

Princess Theo

Theo has gone to a sitter for weeks and weeks now and plays with his friend and her toys. She was wearing a tiara yesterday and Theo wanted one too. The sitter said he wouldn't take it off and was walking around calling himself "princess Theo". Dave is so not going to be happy about this, but after yesterday's antics, I need a reason to blackmail him!

Toddler for sale

Real cheap. Makes messes very quietly when not napping. Apologizes but does not help clean up. Very cute and ready for quick sale.

Firefighter visit

Jack's teachers emailed me this picture of his class today. The firefighters came and put on a puppet show for the kids. I'm sure he'll have a lot of fun facts to share with me this afternoon.

Lazy Sunday

Dave and I went to a costume party last night and didn't get in until the wee hours of the morning, so we're having a lazy Sunday today. Jack takes computer lessons at school every Tuesday and absolutely loves to navigate around the kid websites to play games. Dave remarked how well he does on the computer considering that he can't read many things on the sites yet! Never thought about it but it's true. Theo loves to sit next to Jack and just watch him. It's awesome because there is no fighting or squabbling and they both are learning things.

I bought a yummy Louisiana orange and cut it up for the boys at lunch. We haven't had oranges in a while so it was a real treat for them! I enjoyed the complete silence while they sucked every last bit of juice from the oranges. Nothing beats Louisiana oranges.

Trunk or Treat

Today we had my Mom's club's Trunk or Treat. Spiderman and Bumblebee made their appearance again and enjoyed collecting treats from each car's decorated trunk. I'm on the board this year of the Mom's club and spent most of my time setting up the event, so my trunk decorating was minimal. Oh well, maybe next year! Ha ha, I always say that! There were fun games for the kids to play and little crafts to do in between eating and trunk or treating.

I got to paint faces for the kids today! I only gave them choices of a spider, ghost, princess tiara or butterfly. Jack got a ghost and Theo got a spider. One of the Mom's club members is a performer named Grannie Gertie. Grannie Gertie reads books and tells stories to kids at schools and indoor play areas, etc. The kids loved her story about an old lady who wasn't afraid of anything. Theo just about fell asleep in the car and Jack wasn't far behind. That's a true sign of a good time!

Afternoon project

I guess you could say that I have a small halloween obsession. Tiny actually ;) I got this haunted house a while back and was just waiting for the right time to put it together with Jack. We didn't have anything going on today, so we went to work. Theo kind of hung around and confiscated the candy corn decorations! Jack had a blast putting this together. I think we did pretty darn well for having a 2 year old running around us!

Smarty pants

I got Jack these Discovery Toys match games a few weeks ago and finally gave them to him. My close friends know that I store away things for a rainy day, or a lazy Sunday in this case! There are reading and math workbooks that involve visual discrimination, object recognition, addition and subtraction, and logic. The best part about this "toy" is that there is an answer key that Jack pulls out after making his choices to check his work. He loves that part. We had to pull him away from this before he finished an entire book in one sitting. Go Jack!
