Cousin Katie

Cousin Katie is due to have her baby girl in 3 weeks or less, so the boys and I headed over to visit today. Jack loved playing with Bella the dog (we found out that Jack had more energy than Bella did!!) and Theo loved testing out the jumperoo for the baby. Thanks for having us over Katie!! We can't wait to have a new cousin close by.

It's been kinda quiet........

Better check on Jack........ hmmmmm. Looks like he got into the markers and went crazy. Thank goodness for washable markers!

Corinne's blood drive

I flew into Houston on Friday for Corinne's replacement blood drive. Jen's friend Kerry organized the drive and Uncle Scott made signs and banners for publicity. It worked like a charm b/c there were 28 walk-ins offer to donate blood! All in all, we had 40 people actually donate blood (it's tough standards these days!) and got 3 platelet donations. So many more people came out just to support Corinne and the family! Please be sure to check out Corinne's caring bridge site (linked from this blog) for tons more pictures and updates on her. Thanks to daddy for keeping Jack and Theo all weekend so I could be there for it all!!

Let's see.....

Which button do I push again? Theo loves to make his mobile start up now that I've flipped the control side to face him. I also put the aquarium fish in his crib for some entertainment!! I met my old co-worker Hope out for some sushi today in NO and Theo was a doll. He missed his nap entirely and was still all smiles. He started to pull my hair like crazy and rub his eyes, but never made a peep. What a good baby I have!!

ch-ch-changes

Lots of changes around here. Jack is nearing my dreams of sporting a faux hawk...... his hair was very short 2 haircuts ago and we're growing out the front/top half of his hair and spiking the front now. Looks adorable if I do say so myself!

Also, we had to lower Theo's crib and I went ahead and took the bumper pad out. That thing was a pain but Theo sure did love to look at it. Now that the crib is down low there is no way I can maneuver the mattress around to change crib sheets. We also put Theo in the walker and boy did he LOVE it. Maybe just b/c it's something new other than the excersaucer..... who knows. He's figuring out how to push himself forwards and backwards. I told Jack to watch out b/c Theo would be able to chase him around soon. Little Bit's 2nd tooth is pushing through and he's a grouch factory again. Poor thing :(

Ok, edited to add that I had to put the bumper pad back up! Theo got his leg stuck in the rail and was quite unhappy. He moves all around his crib and I'll just have to deal with difficult sheet changes.... :)

Holy birthday parties!

Jack did a double header of birthday parties today. First, we went to Sam's party at a petting zoo in the country. It was tons of fun and Jack fed all sorts of animals, even baby goats with a bottle! He went on a hay ride and then got cake & ice cream.

We headed immediately over to Tank's birthday party at the Fire Station. The firefighters gave the kids a tour and demonstrated the hose, siren and other cool stuff. The kids all got hats to wear. Jack had a blast and got more cake!

In other news, Jack has been sitting on the potty on a regular basis and consistently peeing. The poop issue is another story..... but we'll get there right?! We went through a few pairs of underwear this weekend to let him "get the connection" and he has. Now we're doing pull-ups and just sticking him on the potty after he drinks and about an hour after that. One day soon we'll ditch the pull ups and go cold turkey........ yikes!

Theo, Theo

He's a mess!!! He loves to eat food now. My 40+ oz a day drinker has dropped to maybe half of that now he's eating us out of house and home. He eats 3 square meals a day of babyfood/table foods. He's also getting up on all 4's and rocking back & forth. I fear he's going to bust out with crawling any day. I'm not down with that! I've been there and it's overrated. Jack is going to spaz once Theo can get into his toys, especially his small things like cars and puzzle pieces. I think it's all going to go straight to his mouth! Life is going to get interesting really fast around here......

Corks n Canvas

Some friends of mine and I went to a place called Corks n Canvas tonight and drank wine and painted. It was a blast! I haven't painted since Freshman year in HS (I won't tell how long that's been... many moons). I'm going to hang my masterpiece in the living room since the colors compliment the paint in there. We did all of the work ourselves and had an instructor at the front of the class demonstrating how where to apply shading, etc. I can't wait to do another class soon!!

2 Connors and the zoo

Here's a hodgepodge of pictures from today. I have a close up of Jack's gash..... not too big, just deep. He sports all sorts of cool band aids now. We also have Theo wearing his baby Brad Pitt hat this morning. The hat is 12-18 months and is already getting tight. My kids' heads are just huge. Lastly, we went to the zoo again today. The weather has been just delightful and we're making the most of it before the heat comes. We walked all over the zoo and saw tons of animals today. Last time we stalled out in the play area for a long time! Theo and Caitlin became fast friends. She shared some cheerios with Theo and he loved them. I gave him a biter biscuit to pass the time in the stroller and he loved it. Got insanely messy, but he was content! We met up with Connor C. and Connor B. today and the three boys had a great time together. Jack and Connor B. have been friends since before they could walk so it's neat to see them pal around together now that they're big boys. Both boys are sleeping and it's 7:15 pm. The mark of a great day!!

Jack's first stitches!

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later..... Jack smacked his head on the bed frame tonight and got a nice little gash above his eye. I knew by looking at it that he'd probably need stitches..... just as Theo was screaming for his bottle and it was getting dark out. Fun times. Luckily my friends Bob & Jen called at that moment and told me to come over. They watched Theo and directed me to an urgent care that got us in and out in about 45 minutes! Not bad at all. Jack got 4 stitches and was very brave. He'll go Monday to have them taken out. Soon we'll be on a first name basis with the ERs around here......... Thanks Bob & Jen. Y'all were a lifesaver!!

Rocket launcher

Jack loves to play with the rocket launcher in the backyard. He stomps his foot and sends it into the air. It's gotten stuck on the roof of Gigi's house and our back patio, but for the most part, it goes well. Theo still loves to watch the bubble maker do its thing. I know the days of sitting still are going to be short lived...... he's already getting up on his knees and rocking back/forth. I so don't want him to crawl!! I've been there before and know how overrated it is!! He he.

On a side note, Jack surprised me this afternoon by picking up sidewalk chalk and writing letters. Totally unassisted and unsolicited. He knows quite a few and can write his name with a little help. Smarty pants!

Thumb, shumb

Theo has a deep love for his thumbs. He LOVES to suck them, day and night. Now that he's teething though, they just don't cut it anymore. Perhaps sucking has been replaced by biting and I know that's gotta hurt! Lately he's loved to chew on the nunu and hold it in his hand, but up till today, if you put it in his mouth, he'd promptly spit it back out. Today for some reason was a good day to chew on it inside his mouth, and in he kept the offensive nunu. And kept it and kept it. Throughout swing time, game time, and play time. Maybe we've turned the corner? I'm hoping so b/c in my mind it will be easier to wean a nunu than a thumb...

French Quarter Fest

Dave took Jack camping yesterday and last night, so Theo and I decided to enjoy the wonderful weather and head to the French Quarter! I wore him in a sling and he did great. It did get very bright for a while and I had to use his burp cloth for a hat. Cousin Cameron met us out and Theo had a great time going through her bag. He was like a baby pickpocket!

I snapped this picture of Theo's pearly white tooth last night. If you look really closely and enlarge the picture, you'll be able to see it. So far it's just one...... the bottom left is taking it's time!

Grandparents day

Yesterday was Grandparent's Day at Kehoe. Gigi and Dada made the trip over and enjoyed the afternoon with Jack. The children put on a performance for the grandparents and then made crafts for them. Everyone had a great time and Jack was exhausted when he came home. Thanks for making the day special Gigi and Dada.

Zoo with Connor

The boys and I met up with my friend Tammie and her son Connor Wednesday. Jack and Connor go to Toddlearn together on Fridays and get along really well. Jack and Connor had a blast playing on the playground and looking at the animals. Theo was a trooper and maybe managed to see a few animals. Maybe? It did make it hard to take pictures though since Theo was out of the stroller more than he was in! Thanks for meeting us Tammie and Connor!

We have a tooth!

No picture to go along with it yet (his mouth is like Ft. Knox and there is no getting in there), but Theo's bottom right tooth has cut! Soon to be followed by the bottom left I'm sure.... He's still terribly fussy and drooling like you wouldn't believe. We're getting close to table foods too. Theo is eating stage 3 foods and eating the puffs or baby nutrigrain bars well. Soon he'll be putting those new-found teeth to work ;)

Outside time

Theo loves being outdoors and now that he's grabbing the rocks from the gravel box and putting them in his mouth (knew that day would come), I have to keep him out of harms way. Right now he'll stay put on the blanket and stay occupied with various things. Jack got a bubble maker from a friend for his birthday and Theo like to watch the bubbles. He's so fair (yes, he's blonde!) that I have to put a hat on him. I think these pictures turned out adorably cute!

Bike rider

Jack is pedaling really well now on his tricycles. He surprised both Dave and me with this new trick. We asked him when he learned and he told us that Alyssa taught him (she was over the night before he showed us for the first time). Alyssa also taught Jack how to crawl way back when, so we're not surprised that she helped him master this skill too!

You may wonder, why doesn't Jack have clothes on? Well, he's in underwear! Just an afternoon experiment with the potty. It's slowly coming along.......

Holding his bottle

Theo's newest obsession is holding his own bottle or sippy cup. He's very good at it. Normally I hold him in my lap and let him take the bottle, but I had to snap a picture of him doing it on his own! Kinda hard when he's in my lap. Theo soaked through his diaper at nap time (he slept for 3 hours!) so that is why he is naked in the pic. He's growing up too fast!
