Mommy's new project - edited for site!!!!

I ordered 16x20 canvas prints of some of my favorite pictures of the boys.  One made it into the playroom and the others landed in the boys' bathroom.  Jack sleeps with his door open now so I couldn't really get the best picture of what it looks like.  The top pic is of Jack as a baby in our old house and the bottom is of Theo sporting a mohawk.  I love how they look in the bathroom!!

I got the canvases from a company called up done.  They were great and their prices are way cheaper than anyone else!!!

Hey cuz!

Katie and baby Elise came over to visit yesterday.  She's an absolute doll and I enjoyed holding a little baby (compared to Theo, that is) again.  Theo was napping when they got here and was very curious about his little cousin once he woke up.   He crawled right over to her and touched her hair.  I'm sure he would have pulled it if I didn't move him away.  He was equally as curious about Katie's piece of cake....

The joy of cooking..

and eating :)  Jack loves to help me cook.  He got to do so much cooking at Cedarwood camp that he wants to continue that at home.  He is a big fan of cereal these days and enjoys drinking the milk up from the bowl.  I need to get those bowls with straws attached!!

Ain't no mountain high enough...

For Theo to reach.  The child is into EVERYTHING!  We had to put more cabinet locks on today.  We had a couple of open cabinets for Jack when he was about this age.  Well, curious George was just a little too curious.  He's cruising like crazy on anything and everything.  He's driving his brother batty now that he can reach more and more toys.  I think he'll be right on target and walking by his birthday!

Grocery store fun

Our grocery store got some new carts.  Stop the press, I know.  It does make my life easier since the boys can 1) sit together, 2) not touch anything!!!.  The drawback is the itty bitty cart.  Oh well, can't have everything right?

Storm advisory

We're not too concerned about Hurricane Dolly right now b/c we have our eyes on Hurricane Theo. The child is into everything. The world is his oyster right now and he's full of discoveries. His path is enormous and just look at the devastation in his wake.........

Jack and Mommy's special afternoon

I never get to have special outings with Jack anymore since Theo's arrival. I made a point to schedule some special alone time with him today after camp. Our gym has this really cool waterslide and all of the kids going down it were having a blast. I asked Jack if he wanted to do it and got an enthusiastic "yes!". I got an all day pass and off we went. I wasn't sure how he would do with it once we climbed to the top of the stairs. Heck, I wasn't sure how I'd fare since I haven't been on that type of slide in many, many years. Jack didn't miss a beat and he rode in front on me on the mat. We shot down that slide and were dunked underwater when we came out. He immediately said "let's go again!". We must have gone about 20 times....... luckily there was no line at all, which is rare I'm told.

What a fun mommy and Jack afternoon!! Little Theo was kickin' it in the childcare eating cheerios by the way.......

Jack is adjusting to his new school. It's been rough the past couple of mornings, seeing as I have to practically drag him in the room! He is always having a blast when I pick him up in the afternoons. He cooked a pizza yesterday and was eating it when I arrived. I talked to Aunt Jen on the phone today and Jack wanted to have a turn with Corinne, hence the phone picture.

Theo got his post-op tube check today and passed with flying colors! We got ear molds fitted so that we can go to the pool again. I feel like a recluse sometimes having to avoid water like I have the past week or so. Theo spent the day admiring the cat from the back window, drinking from his new sippy cup, pulling up on everything he comes near and chatting away. He flings everything from his stroller or booster chair that I give him. Usually that is followed by "uh oh". What will I do with him?

I got him some "big boy" pjs since I don't feel a onesie is warm enough for him at night. Doesn't he just look precious? Just like his big brother in those Lightning McQueen pjs. See any curls in his hair in the shot from behind???

Percy Quin

This is somewhat belated, but I just uploaded these pictures from the family reunion last week. Jack loved seeing all of his cousins again. It was hard to pose everyone but here they all are!! 2007 was quite a baby boom year! Brandon, Jordan, Colleen, Noel, Ryley, Caroline, Ansley, Jack, Theo, Henry and Blake. Baby Elise was sleeping and we chose not to wake her this year (she's only 2 months old). What fun to have so many cousins!!

Uncle Mike took a special interest in Jack (which he LOVED). He horsed around with him and lifted him in the air to "touch the fan". He also took him out on the boat for some fun time with the other cousins. All that was wonderful distraction for Jack, and in turn, was wonderful for me since Theo never did take one nap at the reunion. Come to find out his ears were horribly infected..... but thanks Uncle Mike!!

Chef Jack

Jack started camp at his new school today. It was a tough morning for him.... but he adjusted and was having a blast when I came to pick him up! The theme for this week is cooking, so here's chef Jack!

Jack's "pet"

I got Jack a turtle that triples in size when left in water. We've been letting the turtle get big for a few days now. I keep asking Jack what he wants to name his turtle and I get all sorts of responses. Some are english and some aren't. He did say today that he liked the name Jordan and that's what he wanted to name the turtle. Too funny!

6th Anniversary

Dave and I celebrated our 6th anniversary yesterday! His parents were kind enough to babysit for us so we could get away for a trip to New Orleans. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton and it was fabulous. Dave planned all sorts of wonderful things... such as a couples massage and a magnificent dinner at this restaurant, complete with the Degustation dinner. It was 11 courses. Yes, 11. We got a different wine with each course. Can you say grotesquely full? I was very pregnant for our 5th anniversary and I think was even on bedrest, so this one more than made up for the last!

Mandeville park

We headed to the park today for some morning fun. The pictures aren't the best b/c it was super steamy this morning and I think the camera lens fogged up! Jack has lots of "little boy energy" in the mornings that we have to burn off. This park is great b/c it has 4 swing sets so there is always a swing open for Theo. He's still been doing great and is babbling so much more now. It's so sweet to hear him say "uh oh" over and over when he drops things..... which is all the time b/c we're in the fun stage. Gotta love cause and effect!!

Botox shots and post-tube update

Theo got his tubes bright and early this morning. We were done and home by 8:20 if that gives you any indication. The hardest part of it all was not giving him a bottle while we were waiting on the doctor to arrive. He was looking at me like "woman, give me a bottle already". Especially since I had to wake him up at 5:15 am. You would never know that Theo had surgery this morning b/c he's his regular self now. Both of his ears were "highly infected" per the doctor. He's babbling up a storm now that he can hear himself again!

Jack pulled out the doctor kit this afternoon and I taught him how to give Botox shots. Hey, it's a profitable procedure and we might as well dream while pretending right?

Funky hair

I gave Theo his last bath pre-tubes last night. I had fun giving him a mohawk. Look how long his hair is! Now I have to be careful about getting water in his ears......

Cuteness captured!

We opened up a new set of bath toys for Theo, and Jack too, tonight. Theo loved having the bathtub to himself before brother took a separate bath. He chewed on the new toys and moved all around that tub! I had to seriously crop the picture to take out offending peni shots. The smile says it all though......

And on a side note, we'll find out when Mr. Theo's surgery time is for Tuesday tomorrow. Keep him in your prayers :)

Story time

Theo is obsessed with this picture book of Jack's. He crawls around the house and lugs it along. He'll flip through it and really look at the pictures! Jack loves to look at it also, mainly since his brother is interested in it. Yes, we have a little green-eyed monster sometimes :) Here the monkeys are listening to Daddy read them the book.

Happy birthday Mommy!

Yep, it's my birthday. Jack had summer camp today, so Theo and I met my friend Theresa and her little boy Aidan for lunch. Theo and Aidan are under 3 months apart and seem to have fun together. Theo enjoyed using his sippy cup. It doesn't happen too often b/c he is quite the bottle lover. Look out Suri Cruise.... Theo will take your place as the 2 year old on the bottle at this rate!

In other news, we put up the baby gate this weekend. Theo has mastered the art of climbing stairs. It will be a while until he can learn to safely scale them, and more importantly, to come down them. We rigged up a gate that Jack can operate easily so it hasn't been too much of a hassle yet.

I'm very blessed to have my two boys. They are the best birthday gift ever :)

Our 4th

We went to our subdivision party in the morning for some swimming and music. Theo dipped in the baby pool for a bit. It's so much work getting him ready for the pool that it's almost not worth it! Jack swam like a fish in the big pool with daddy. He also enjoyed the gigantic slide for most of the party.

That evening, we headed out to the Seafood Festival for some live music and food. Theo danced to the music and Jack enjoyed a yummy snoball. I shared mine with Theo and he loved it as well. We took a school bus shuttle to and from the fest and Jack was in heaven! Theo stood on Daddy's legs on the way home and could see over the seat. That tickled him to no end since he is usually reversed in the car, staring at the backseat.

We had a great weekend overall. Lots of cleaning in the kitchen and just general family time.
