Leapfrog

We got Jack this Leapfrog keyboard for his 3rd birthday and he briefly played with it. Jack has always been very "techy" and was typing on a keyboard well before we got him this system. Theo is always stuck watching and hasn't really developed any computer skills yet so we brought the Leapfrog system out today for him to try out. He is so thrilled to get to do something himself and Jack, of course, has to be near by to assist his brother. You should hear the conversations going on in the play room right now. Lots of "No, don't touch that mouse, Jack" and "but I've got to move it back for you" or "they want you to push the keyboard, Theo". Cracks me up!!

Cruisin'

We went on a 5 day cruise with Gigi and Dada this past week. Our ship was the Triumph and it left out of New Orleans. The boys did fabulously and had as much fun as we did :) Jack slept in Gigi and Dada's cabin and Theo bunked with us. The boys went to Camp Carnival a few times while the adults got to do fun things without them! I didn't end up bringing my camera so here are the whopping 2 pictures from our trip. We have video on Dada's camcorder of our beach excursions and of Jack doing the waterslide on the ship that might come later........ Thanks to Gigi and Dada for the wonderful trip!!!

Wrapping up VBS

Today was the last day of VBS at church. I can honestly say I'm glad it's over!! Jack loved it and got so much out of it, which is the whole point :) Theo happily played in the nursery every day as well. I ,on the other hand, was stuck in purgatory for 3 hours a day (aka the craft room) and left with a headache every single day. Today was the worst mainly due to the level of difficulty of the craft (the beaded whale you see Jack working on). But all is well because we leave Monday for a 5 day cruise :) Catch ya next year, VBS.

VBS

Pictures and updates have been lacking b/c the boys and I have been doing VBS at church all this week. There are over 500 kids this year and it's a bit chaotic! I'm stationed in the craft room and have been dealing with tye dyed shirts ever since Monday. They are a lot of work but look so cool. Jack is old enough now to rotate through all of the stations, just like the big kids. Theo is still stuck in the preschool until next year, so no pictures of him. He has two friends from MDO there in his class so he could care less!

Mmm, smores

I'm trying my best to keep the boys to some sort of schedule this summer. It's been nice to do what we please, for the most part, and when the boys aren't trying to kill each other, it's nice. Neither boy naps any longer so I'm having to bribe them to have "rest time" where they just relax in their rooms with books and play quietly. Some days are better than others. I made a sheet of small rewards (get a snoball, play in the baby pool in the back yard, etc) and they get to pick one for successfully resting. Yesterday Jack drew "make smores" so here they are reaping the rewards of resting. It was a hit :)

Mary Payton's Miracle

Jack and I ran in a one mile fun run early this morning. Jack learned the critical lesson of pacing yourself early on :) Poor guy kept telling me how "my side hurts". He pushed through it though and we ran about as much as we walked. The race benefitted a local girl battling a degenerative disease, raising money for an experimental trial through NIH to find a cure for her disease. Sadly, she's been deemed too advanced to participate in the trial but her foundation is raising money for other children in the study. Big cheers for Jack for racing for a cure! Theo and Daddy cheered us on from the sidelines. I just enjoyed not pushing 100 lbs in a double stroller. That is for the birds!

Houston for the boys

The boys' trip to Houston was a little different than mine. While I was loving on a tiny bundle of sweetness the boys were being wined and dined by Mimi and Papa! These are the pics that my mom snapped on her phone from the pool (Theo and Jack loved the slide), the Lego store in the Galleria and their first Astros game. Fun stuff!!!

Trip to Houston

Hot on the heels of Spring Blast was a drive over to Houston. Jack and Theo's cousin, Parker, decided to come 6 weeks early and Aunt Jen needed some help. She flew over for both boys and was a great help so I was only repaying the favor. Big sister Corinne is so in love with her baby brother. Makes me laugh to think how indifferent Jack was when Theo arrived. Sisters are just different!! Here I am loving on my niece and nephew :)

Spring Blast

Jack had his last day of preschool (sniff) last Wednesday. All of the preschoolers performed various songs and then the kids were dismissed to go have FUN! Gigi and Dada came over for all of the fun :) Theo went to a sitter that day since siblings are encouraged not to attend. He'll just have to wait for next May for his own Spring Blast! Jack spent the majority of the fun time in a giant, foam machine. He just loved it, as did all of the other kids there. We'll sure miss Ms. Bell and Ms. Scheinuk next year. Now we'll spend a summer at the pool and play dates with friends!
