Just call us Germaine Jackson over here....... Dave has a kidney stone and is waiting to see if it will pass naturally. If not, he's going to have some sort of surgical procedure Monday to get it out. I've fallen ill with an ear infection maybe? My throat and eat just radiate in pain everytime I swallow. Theo is on the mend and perhaps the healthiest of us all. Praise God!!! Jack has been coughing all day long and just looks miserable. He and I are going to the dr. tomorrow. Yuck yuck yuck.

Happy early birthday Jack
Dave and I spent all day Saturday digging out the sand box in the back yard in preparation for making it into a gravel pit. It took quite a bit of work b/c we had to fashion a new lid to the giant box (built by the previous owners). I should say the giant, irregularly shaped box (not a straight plywood sheet.... had to be 20 inches longer than that). After much cussing, second guessing and a great idea of Dave's, we had a fabulously sturdy lid. Dave took Jack to get some outdoor hotwheels and small construction trucks for the pit on Sunday (thanks Mama and Aunt Sonja for the Valentine's money!!). Jack has been two left feet lately and earned the latest scrape to his head Sunday while picking out his hotwheels. We call him Harry Potter now thanks to the cut on his forehead!
Jack got to test everything out this afternoon while mommy and Theo were at the pediatrician. Theo has a double ear infection and his breathing was very concerning to the dr. We're to wake him up every 4 hours and give him his breathing treatments and let the antibiotic take effect before freaking out too much. He was so happy and actually laughed at the dr. when she listened to his chest. She remarked "he's much too happy to be truly in distress". His congenial nature is the only thing that saved him a trip to the hospital...... what a day.

CanIhavesome?
Theo has been, oh what's the word, fussy for the past couple of days. Teething probably. Perpetually teething! But anyway, I thought I'd lighten the mood and try a sippy cup (with a straw) with some ice cold water for him to gulp. He figured it out and was so pleased with himself! It was cute and Jack had to chime in "hey, that's my cup".

Interesting way to eat a corn dog...
Having fun
My friend Jennifer lent me her excersaucer since we never got one with Jack. We had the jumperoo, but I swear that thing is double the size of an excersaucer (so we're reluctant to bring it down from the attic). Theo enjoyed himself and excitedly grabbed at things... all the while trying to put them into his mouth. Thanks for sharing your excersaucer with us Jennifer!

Holy sh@&!
This is what I discovered after coming home from Weds. night dinner at church tonight. Theo was a fuss-monster but I just thought it was b/c he was tired. No no, he had a job to do. I unhooked him from his carrier and felt the mess........ it was everywhere...... himself, me, the straps, the buckle, his onesie, everywhere. All the while Jack was whining about something..... Oh it was one of those motherhood moments where you wonder if you're cut out for it all. Needless to say, I'm very familiar with how to take apart the contraption that is the infant carrier and it's being cleaned as I write this entry. Theo got a bath, Jack got the milk he wanted, and I am next in line for a shower.......

Grabby hands
Theo loves to sit at the table with us, even if he's not eating (which let me tell you is not often). I saw this suction toy to put on his lap tray and he really went to town with it! He's got great hand-eye coordination for a 5 month old! I also cleaned out my pantry today and now have a place for the gazillion cans of Enfamil that I'm stocking up. What can I say, Target had them on sale and those things aren't cheap!!!

Trailer for two

Dave and I really enjoy riding bikes in Mandeville, especially since our city has a nice (and shaded) bike trail that rides to Abita Springs (which is about 10 miles up the road). It's been about a year since we last rode bikes...... since I got too big pregnant to do it any longer. Soon after Theo was born we got this fancy bike trailer that fits both boys. It has a cargo area (which came in really handy when Theo fell asleep) and is really shaded. We parked our car and rode to Abita and ate lunch, then rode back and went to a park and let Jack run around and play. I think everyone had a great time and we certainly enjoyed the gorgeous weather!

Joe Cool
I took the boys to the zoo Wednesday. The weather couldn't have been more pleasant and it left me wishing our weather was this nice year round. I'm so not looking forward to venturing out in July and August again. Ugh. It was bright outside so I put Jack's sunglasses on Theo. Just a little too big still..... even for senor big head.
Jack was sweet the other day when Theo was fussing in his carseat. He brought his brother a book and started to "read" it to him. He even brought a baby book! Awww. I tried out some wrist rattles on Theo to see if they'd entertain him, which they sort of did, for a second. He mostly just stares out of the window in the backseat when I'm driving, or looks at his brother!

Bath time fun

Theo is still a little wobbly for the ring bath seat as of yet, so I figured why not try out the bumbo seat? It's plastic and he sits up well in it........ Theo spent the whole time looking at his brother. He is continually amazed by Jack. I may just keep bathing Theo in his baby tub for now, but the days are numbered........ he's outgrowing it fast!
Just chillin'
Mimi got some good alone time with Theo while Jack was at school or napping. Hate to brag, but this baby is perfect in every way! It's so easy to just love on him b/c he's so smiley and content! He still loves to swing and is filling out the seat quite well these days..... We also tried him with green beans and he loved them. He takes after mommy and brother with liking green veggies! He's up to 2 rice cereal bottles and one meal of baby food a day. Sometimes if he's extra hungry, I'll give him a lunch of baby food as well. He's a growing boy!
Mimi's first parade
Mimi was here over the weekend and we took her to her first real parade in Mandeville. We got her Popeye's chicken and a couple tall boys for the road..... it's just not Mardi Gras without Popeye's!! She caught lots of beads to take home to her schoolkids and just generally had a great time. It was freezing outside Friday night and we were all bundled up! Jack actually got up on our shoulders so he could see (he is squirly and sometimes won't do that). I had to scour Mandeville for more glubs b/c we lost one of the original pair. I finally found a girls' set at Gap Kids on clearance. Sometimes living in a small town has it's negatives!! Little Theo was tre-bundled up and caught some zzzz's again (how I don't know.... bands are constantly coming by playing the drums and the floats are really loud). Happy Mardi Gras y'all!!
Orpheus ball
Our friends Pat and Theresa got tickets to the Orpheus Ball in New Orleans and invited us to join them! We got all dressed up and drove into the city last night. The ball is basically an indoor parade with bands playing. We lucked out and got a parking spot right across from the convention center, where the ball was at, and just walked across the street! We caught tons of stuff and danced away to the great music. Dave hadn't worn his tux since the New Year's Eve after we got married and I haven't worn a fancy dress since the last wedding I was in..... so getting all dolled up was a treat! We had a great babysitter for the boys and they both blessed us by sleeping in till 8 am (Theo) and 9 am (Jack). You can tell we got a little crazy as the night went on.... but hey... Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez!!!

Kehoe parade
All the preschoolers at Kehoe had a parade today. The kids rode in decorated wagons (some were overly decorated and made our humble "float" look bad) and the older students pulled them. Jack's class dressed up like clowns and made the cutest shirts. Too bad it was 30 degrees this morning and all the kids were bundled up! I think Jack ended up with more throws than he threw, but he had a great time. Mimi had fun at her first parade and caught lots of stuff. I can't figure out how to rotate the last pic..... it's not showing up that way on my computer. Sorry!
Pizza Man
I took Jack and Theo to a restaurant called the Pizza Man Wednesday. They have a window for the kids to watch the men toss the dough in the air. Jack loved watching the show and Theo pretty much just chilled next to me! We ended up running into 2 different people that we know there which is funny b/c it is a bit of a drive to this place!
Eve parade
The weather was horrible this past weekend, so one of the major Northshore parades got moved to Monday night. We took the boys out to catch some beads and see the floats. It turned out to be very cold and windy, so little Theo was bundled up in several layers. We somehow lost one of Jack's "glubs" so I had to scour Mandeville for some new ones today. Easier said than done since all the stores have clearanced winter stuff and all the spring stuff is out already.
