Jack did amazingly well today! They were about 30 minutes late taking him in to the OR, but other than that, everything went as planned. The operation itself took about 45 minutes and then Jack was in recovery for about 2 hours. He woke up from anesthesia really agitated (normal) and couldn't be calmed down, so the recovery nurse gave him a small dose of a sedative. He was sleeping when we went back to recovery and he slept for another hour while we were there. He woke up and was fine! The nurse gave him some juice and a popcicle. He's home now watching tv and has had two bowls of jello, a cup of pudding and lots of juice. Go Jack!!!

Goodbye Frog
Jack is having his "frog" taken out tomorrow along with his tonsils and adenoids. He doesn't know what all of this entails, but we want him to not have any anxiety over it, so we threw him a "goodbye frog" party. There was pizza and cake....... which does read "goodbye frog" in skittles. The ice cream will come later :) He's set to go into surgery at 9 am. It will take about 45 minutes and he'll spend another hour or so in recovery. My awesome friend Betsy will be watching Theo for us so Dave can be there to comfort Jack when he comes out of anesthesia. I went to the store today and loaded up on all flavors of ice cream, jello and pudding. I also got tons of stuff to make smoothies for our patient. Here is an up close and personal look at the enormous tonsils. They nearly touch when he is not saying "ahh" like in the picture.

Oak Alley craft fair
My friend Naomi and I headed down to Oak Alley plantation this morning for their craft fair. Jack and Naomi's son, Graysen, are in school together at Cedarwood. I had never been to Oak Alley before and was in awe of the huge oak trees all around us. There were tons of cute Easter items for sale and I got some yard decorations. Graysen and Jack got their faces painted (superheroes of course!), rode ponies, drank freshly squeezed lemonade and ran around the grounds at the plantation. Those two kids have LOTS of little boy energy! We had a great time and will surely make this an annual trip!!

Jack's Batcave
Jack (and Theo) love playing with the Batcave that Jack got from Gigi and Dada for his birthday. Aunt Jen gave Jack a Batcopter and Batmobile...... then Miss Theresa gave him a Batbunker..... and Aunt Sonja and Uncle Bill sent money that Jack used to buy the Joker and the Joker mobile (what is that thing called??). It's quite the set up, for sure. Jack told me he has 7 Batmans now. Don't worry, he accounts for them all and takes good care of them. I had 6 Cabbage Patch dolls growing up, guess this is the boy version of that.

Work book fun
Those of you who have met Jack know that he is the type that needs to stay busy. We have puzzles, games, books galore to keep him engaged. He got tons of stuff from Grandvonnie for Christmas that we've been getting into this week. Here he is "decoding" a message. I was really impressed that he followed it as well as he did. He wrote the wrong letter on a couple of spaces and missed the correct letter a few times, but more or less he did great. He enjoyed this game and it let me cook dinner with him right there at the bar. Notice his brother gorging on his meal. I think Theo has 4 stomachs. Seriously.
We also played a bunch with another book Grandvonnie gave Jack today at the ENT. Jack's tonsils are so big that they almost "kiss" and my mom noticed how he snores and has coughing fits at night (she happened to share a room with him while she was visiting last week). I got a quick ENT appointment and the Dr. decided it's best if his tonsils and adenoids come out. There are a few other things going on that make it a good idea. He'll be getting surgery on Tuesday (the 31st), so be sure to say an extra prayer for Jack next week.

Zoo
The weather has been picture-perfect this week so our family ventured out to the zoo this morning. We got good advice to get there early....... and we did! Twenty minutes early and there was already a line forming. Theo is now totally in to Jack's old clothing (finally!!!!) and here he is in one of my favorite shirts from when Jack was 1 1/2 years old. I love to match the boys when I can, plus it's easy to keep tabs on them in public when they are dressed alike.
The zoo had a new dinosaur exhibit with animatronic dinosaurs. Jack was terrorized by them even though he insisted on going to this exhibit. No amount of reassuring helped. He did like digging for fossils with his brother (who loved the sand - beach trip, here we come!!). We only ended up staying a couple of hours since the boys got tired quickly. No pressure though, we have a yearly membership!

Pj's
Mimi and Mama flew out this afternoon after visiting for Jack's birthday. Mama and Theo definitely got some quality time together, mostly playing with Batman or reading books. Here they are this morning snuggled up reading Spiderman. It was really cute how Theo would keep bringing Mama a book for her to read to him. He's a bookworm!
Tonight I got the boys in their matching pj set from Gigi. They were engrossed in Mickey Mouse....... but you get the idea. Thanks for the pjs, Gigi!
Miss you Mimi and Mama!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!
The boys are decked out in green today in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Jack has been learning all about St. Patty's at school and asked today "to see a real leprechaun" and even sang a song about one! I had fun snapping pictures of the boys before Jack went to school today. I was asking Theo where his nose, eyes, head, etc were and you can see the results. He's learning!

Jack's party!!!!
Today was Jack's party at the Mandeville Sports Complex, the same location as last year's party. We had a school party this year since Jack has 14 kids in his class. All of the kids dressed up as superheroes or princesses and they had such a blast running around and playing. Theo reprised his role of Robin from Halloween and also had a blast. My mom was a lifesaver today by helping us wrangle "Robin" around the gym. Theo definitely had as much fun as his big brother today. Jack worked up an appetite running around with the boys and he ate 3 pieces of pizza, fruit, cake and ice cream.
Jack and his friends loved jumping in the foam pits and sliding around in the bounce house. Most of the little girls at the party stuck to the trampolines and balance beams. It's funny to see that even at the tender age of 4, boys hang out with boys and girls stick to girls (most of the time).
We came home from the party and let Jack open up his gifts. He got so many fun toys from his friends. He also got a water table from Mimi and Papa and a fun Batcave from Gigi and Dada. Mama gave him some clothes since nothing from last year (save some shorts) fits this year.
