Summer Learning
We are loving the laid-back days of summer! The boys have been sleeping in past 8 (heaven!!!) and we make up our schedule as we go. Our library kicked off their summer reading program last week, so both boys attended a special story time yesterday. It was a reading and puppet show using a projection board. Reminded me of something straight out of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.
I'm also giving the boys some school work each day and rewarding them with super cards. The super store is getting frequent shoppers and that is making life so much easier! Theo started on the Ultimate Phonics today and both boys have been doing math concepts on IXL. Gotta stay sharp over the summer :)

Braves Game
Jack's baseball team swept the Dodgers tonight 23-8! Jack played shortstop, catcher, outfield and 3rd base. His team only had 7 guys tonight but that didn't stop them from scoring big! Jack earned a baseball card from his coach for catching a pop fly ball when he was playing 3rd base. Go Braves!

Poolside in New Orleans
My friend, Melissa, came to New Orleans for the weekend with her husband. They live in New Jersey and were meeting up with friends from Seattle. Dave and I went to dinner with everyone on Friday, and then I went back to the city to lay out with Mel and her friend on Saturday. Cousin Cameron joined us. We had a great time and I loved getting to spend time with Mel again :)
Sanctuary Sharks
Theo and Jack are part of the Sanctuary Sharks swim team this summer. They have daily practice in the afternoons and that has been really nice! Theo is the youngest swimmer on the team, but is doing great so far. I'm really proud of how far he's come with swimming since January. Jack is picking right back up from where he left off last summer. Here they are at the first day of practice and enjoying a popsicle treat afterwards :)

Awards Ceremony
Today was the awards ceremony for grades 1-7 at Lake Castle. Jack was earned a high honors trophy for all of his hard work this past year. He and 4 of his friends are moving up to the next level of classes in 2nd grade. We are proud of him and will dearly miss his teacher next year. Mrs. Schaal was loving, silly, fun, and wonderful! Theo loved seeing his pals at the ceremony (all younger siblings), especially Molly.
We headed out to Cracker Barrel after the ceremony and met up with Izabella and Yaira's families for brunch. The kids loved hanging out together outside of school.

Jack's last day!
Jack finished 1st grade with a 1/2 day of school today. He's learned an incredible amount this past year. I'm so excited to begin our summer vacation now!!!
Summer Shoot
I have to give praise to my friend and photographer, Nikki, for these wonderful pictures of the boys. It was her idea for me to bring the boys' sunglasses and I LOVE how they turned out. My boys wrestle, makes faces, and just act silly with Nikki and somehow she captures these treasures. How will I ever decide which ones to frame and print????

Mimi's visit
Mimi has seen Jack drive around Dave's newest toy in the backyard, played a duet with Jack on the piano, taken Theo for lunch at a tea room (he loved eating the sugar cubes), helping Jack with homework, going to 2 of Jack's baseball games, and eating Theo's chocolate. The chocolate was super dark and was gross! Poor Theo.

I want to be a dad!
PPK Graduation
Theo graduated today from PPK in a precious ceremony at a nearby church. The kids sang and danced to quite a few songs and then Mrs. Hoover handed out their trophies and diploma bags. Theo had quite a good time being on stage and really hammed it up! He doesn't lack for personality and surely charmed the audience. I also took video and will attach that in a different post. We're so proud of how far Theo has come this year. He's matured a lot and learned more than I ever dreamed possible.
