Theo's done a little bait and switch on us lately. He's still pretty calm and all, but he's insisting on being held 24/7 when he's not eating. I remember Jack doing the same thing but the second child just doesn't have the luxury sometimes! I have too many things to do, especially for big brother and myself! Tonight he was fussing again when I tried to lay him down in the papasan seat (Theo is not a fan of it, sorry Chi) so I fed him and he literally passed out in my arms. I gently laid him down on the sofa and to my amazement, he stayed there! Will wonders never cease! My sweet boy is wearing a 6-9 month sleeper set that my friend Michelle got for him. Still has plenty of room to grow into but is a nice little fit for my one-month old!

Passed out

Mommy, hold Theo?
That's what my sweet son asked me tonight before we gave Theo a bath! He's been especially tender with Theo lately, jumping up to replace his nu-nu or running to him when he cries. Never would I guess that he would ask to hold him though! I was sitting close by just for safe measure :) Jack did very well with holding Theo's head up and not moving him around. Isn't this so sweet?!?

Gracie's birthday
I took Jack to his classmate Gracie's birthday party today. He helped himself to two snoballs while we were there and ate up every bit of the cupcake he got. He loves birthday parties!! He has really forged friendships with the kids in his class this year and was excited to see them today. He knows all of them by name which is just adorable. Here Theo is being snuggled on my chest. He's been more and more alert and absolutely insistant on being help all the time now. Jack was the same way unfortunately. We busted out the baby bjorn and that helps somewhat. He does nap and sleep still very well.... but he sure prefers to be snuggled.

Rochelle visits
My friend Rochelle, from grad school, came to visit us today. What makes this so remarkable is that Rochelle is due to have her 2nd child in less than 2 weeks and she still made the hour drive across the lake to see us! She got lots of good Theo time in and enjoyed seeing Jack again as well. We can't wait to meet Brady John once he makes his arrival into the world. Good luck Rochelle!!
GCD award
At Kehoe, Jack's school, they give out a GCD award (God, Country, Discipline) each week to one student... think student of the week type deal. Anyway, Jack got the GCD award last week and he was so proud of himself! We were too. He absolutely loves his school and is thriving there. His teachers couldn't be any better either! Way to go Jack! We're so proud of you!
Gigi and Dada
My in laws came for a visit yesterday since their house is being torn up for renovations. The boys enjoyed spending quality time with them! When Bitsy was holding Theo he put his right arm (his favorite) up around his face and it was just too cute not to photograph. He loves to shield his face and to always have one arm free!

Coming home outfit finally!
Theo never did get to wear the coming home outfit I had picked out for a baby boy since Jack fell sick the day I was set to leave the hospital. Dave was home washing the outfit and didn't come back to the hospital until 2 days later! I finally got around to putting Theo in his outfit and I must say that he looked adorable. It's a solid fit so I'll be sure to put him in it again very soon. Isn't he sweet??
Nu nu rescue
Let's play puzzles
Jack was busy playing with his puzzles while I washed some dishes. Next thing I know, he is handing Theo puzzle pieces and telling him where they go!! Theo was less than thrilled initally but soon warmed to the concept. Jack is very caring with his baby brother. We are so lucky to have two wonderful little boys!!

Blogspot ate my post

I posted a new entry last night but it never published.... so he we go again. We took Jack to City Park in NO today to get out for a while. They have a small amuesment park with a train and lots of carnival rides, but of course Jack would have nothing to do with any of them (after purchasing a wristband for unlimited rides nonetheless). We ended up taking him to Storyland to run around and play and he enjoyed that much more. Theo did well on this little adventure but tired of the carseat shortly after arriving back on the northshore. Here he is resting on his daddy's chest. It's his favorite place to be!

We're still here!

Theo has been in his 3 week growth spurt and we're in triage mode right now! He's keeping us busy with feedings but the good news is that he's back to his birth weight!!! Yea! Here's a picture of little man resting on my lap and of Jack playing with his action figures. He's going to be The Thing (from Fantastic 4) for Halloween (it's the yellow colored one). Dave had my memory card this week so sorry for the lack of pictures lately! We'll get more up tomorrow.

Bye bye stump
Just wanted to document that Theo lost his belly button stump right when he was 2 weeks old. I gave him his first bath immersed in water and he liked it. I didn't hear a peep out of him until I took him out :) It was nice to be able to wash his hair and not have him screaming the entire time. He's also napping in his crib for the first time. Jack is at school and I vacuumed downstairs so I put Theo upstairs in his crib so I wouldn't startle him with the vacuum. He's still sleeping there 2 hours later!

Theo's first trip to the Big Easy

We ventured across the lake today to visit the New Orleans cousins. We were somewhat stircrazy and totally invited ourselves over to Katie's house (thanks Katie!!) but we don't think anyone minded too much. Jack had a blast playing with Bella the dog and got plenty of attention. Theo got passed from arm to arm, as you can see in the pictures. It was fun to get out for a while and for everyone to meet Theo.

Hodgepodge

Theo is still a great sleeper and loves to be swaddled. He was awake yesterday and just hanging out so I snapped this picture of him with his eyes open. Our neighbors Don and Cheryl came to visit Theo yesterday and brought both boys some presents. Jack just adores Mr. Don so it was a treat for him to hang out with him at our house! The last picture is of Jack's trains, which appear to be in random order....... however they are in a very methodical placement. He puts his trains to "sleep" each night in the same exact spots and will tell you exactly where they need to be! Too funny. He's really started imagining more and more with his trains and has them race each other, etc.

Big brother the helper
I gave Theo a bath this afternoon while Jack was downstairs with Gigi. He heard Theo crying and bolted upstairs to check on his baby brother! I put Theo in a warm sleeper to calm him down and then laid him under the crib mobile for some awake time stimulation. Jack loved climbing up the side of the crib to see what was going on and pushed the buttons for the mobile a million times. What a sweet big brother!
Theo the Snuzzler
Theo is one laid back guy (thank goodness). I've been having to wake him up still to eat and he's not gaining weight like he should be, so I'm waking him more often now. He loves to raise his arms above his head when he's done eating as if to signal "gosh, that was a great meal!!". He also loves to bury his head when being held, maybe to drown out the lights and noises that accompany a 2 1/2 year old big brother.... Aunt Jen left today and we were truly spoiled by all of her cooking and help. Thanks Chi!! See you soon :)

Aunt Jen's visit

My friend Jen is here helping us out for a few days. She came bearing lots of presents for Jack and Theo and one of them was a shaving kit for Jack compliments of her mom and dad. Jack did not make "good choices" last night by refusing to eat dinner so he didn't get to shave in the tub. Tonight he was much better and was rewarded by getting to play with his shaving kit. Yes, we use bribery around here to get a cooperative 2 year old!!!

Too many variables
Swinging time

We were lucky with Jack in that he enjoyed the swing as an infant. Looks like baby brother Theo will as well...... we hope at least! We usually end up propping his nunu in his mouth somehow. Theo is also wearing (or poorly wearing) the LSU hat that was much too small for Jack two years ago. Our boys just aren't meant to show their Tiger spirit as newborns!

Theo's first dr. appt.
No pictures this time, just an update. We took Theo to his first pediatrican appt. yesterday and he's the picture of health. His weight is at 8lbs 12oz but I bet he'll be back to his birth weight by next week. He also got his first bath today after having a diaper blowout with his daddy in bed. We were planning on doing it today anyway but Theo gave us reason to! I'm moving around great now and even ventured out with Jack and Theo to play today. Jack is adjusting better now to little brother since I'm up and moving and doing things with him again. It's challenging juggling two at the same time but we're doing great. Mimi flies back to Houston tomorrow and we're going to all miss her very much. She's been a huge help with Jack and making sure we're all fed :)

Theo's room

All of the stuff that I ordered online while I was in the hospital came in today for Theo's room! I was so excited since I've waited 9 long months to decorate that room. We also went to a local furniture store and got the cute surfer boy accessories we saw a couple of weeks ago. It's not 100% finished yet but it's coming together well. I brought Theo up to his room while we hung the curtains but he slept the whole time. My mom was really happy that everything came in while she was here so she could see it. She ended up getting a cute frame for Theo's room that we put on the surf board bookshelf.
