Bye bye carrier

The days of convienence and portability are over...... We've moved Theo into his rear-facing carseat and out of the infant carrier. I just couldn't justify lugging a 20 lb "infant" around with his feet sticking out the end of the carrier. Poor baby! So Jack got a new seat and Theo got Jack's old seat. The first of many hand me downs, I'm sure! I got a mini stroller today to lug Theo around now that I can't just plop him anywhere.

Theo is also working feverishly on cutting his bottom two teeth. I gave him a biter biscuit and he devoured it! I also gave him a sippy cup and he held it and sucked away. I can't wait for those pesky teeth to finally come in.... give me my non-fussy baby back!!!

Jack and Theo's stats

We drove back from Houston yesterday and this morning I took the boys for their well-checks. Jack's 3 year stats are: 3 feet 2 1/2 inches (75%) and 37 lbs (90%). He got his finger pricked for some sort of test that I didn't ask about (hence the band aid). The results were normal, so that's good. Having both boys together was challenging!! Jack was in a high-energy mode so most of my efforts were spent corraling him while keeping Theo happy.

Theo had his 6 month check and his stats are: 27 7/8 inches long (90%) and 19 8.5 lbs (75%). He got 4 shots today and was not too happy about it, but quickly forgave us and fell asleep in the car. He's still napping now, poor fellow. I asked if it was ok to give Theo yogurt (yo baby) and the ped said "Not yet, more like 9 months". Ooops. I clarified and said "Is it OK if I've given him yogurt?". I was told it was okay, but wait to give it again till 9 months. The things one forgets the second time around!!

Texas tradition

On our way home from church we saw a small patch of bluebonnets on the side of the feeder road. We stopped the car and dashed over to take a quick picture. I'll have to do some creative editing to fill in more bluebonnets later. The boys are in their coordinating sweater vests for Easter. We've never been in Houston for bluebonnet season since it usually falls around Jack's birthday and we're at home. Lucky us!

Easter bunnies

The boys and I celebrated Easter in Houston with Mimi and Papa. The Easter bunny came twice, once early in the morning and again later after church! I ordered the boys matching Easter baskets (that look just like the one I had as a child!) but never got time to stain and paint them. No biggie though.... they didn't notice or care! Jack loved hunting for eggs in the backyard and we even took turns hiding & finding eggs. Theo didn't mind wearing the bunny ears and we all thought he looked mighty cute :)

Jumpy jump jump

Theo has started jumping in the excersaucer. He's just so happy that I had to snap a picture. He also has started arching his back when you hold him. He's a mover and a shaker!! He also wanted to say "Happy St. Patrick's Day"!!!!

Cousin Corinne

By now many of you know that Jack and Theo's cousin Corinne has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia and is at MD Anderson hospital in Houston getting chemotherapy. Corinne has a website that you can check for updates on her treatment and ways to help. Please keep Corinne and her family in your prayers.

Jack's 3rd Birthday!!

Jack turned 3 on Friday and got to celebrate the day at school with his friends. We had his party Saturday at a sports complex right behind our subdivision. The kids got to jump in foam pits, play in a bounce house, got through a big, elaborate maze that was 3 stories high, and play on all sorts of gymnastics equipment! Even the parents got in on the fun. Jack's cake was decorated like Spiderman (his obsession) and he ate every bit of icing off the top and round the sides, leaving only the cake! Brother Theo was passed off among all the family and didn't make a peep the entire time. We were so fortunate to have so many of Jack's little friends and family there to help us celebrate his birthday. Everyone had a great time and several friends cried as they left..... the party had to end sometime!!

Where's brother?

I attempted to have the boys' picture taken with the Easter bunny today since they have cute coordinating outfits..... attempted being the operative word. Jack would have NOTHING to do with that bunny and could not even be bribed by the train that he rode at Christmas. Theo was more than happy to sit on the bunny's lap and took a great picture. Of course next year, it will be Jack who will be all smiles probably and Theo will not go for it!!

Connor and Caitlin's party

Jack's friend Connor and his sister Caitlin turned three and one, respectively this weekend (actually, Connor's bday is 2 days after Jack's). Mickey and Minnie Mouse were there to help celebrate! Jack did not particularly like the mice and took heavy coaxing to even enter the party upon spotting them. He did love the bounce house and had a great time jumping and sliding. I talked him into getting his face painted and then he got a balloon sword and hat! He was also the last one at the table for cake and ice cream, which is not surprising to those that know Jack well. Theo sat and watched Mickey and Minnie and gladly talked to them. We had a great time at the party and can't wait for Jack's birthday in 5 days!!!

Katie's shower

Today I co-hosted a baby shower for Dave's cousin Katie in New Orleans. She is having a little girl in May! She racked in the gifts and the other hostess, Lauren, prepared lots of wonderful food for the shower. I got to meet Jack and Theo's cousin Ansley, who was born at the end of December and lives in Memphis with her big sisters Ryley and Caroline. New daddy Arnaud will get to wear the family t-shirt come May (which is good b/c it was never a good fit for Dave!!) We played a few games, the most notable was the melted candy bars in baby diapers..... those looked a little too much like the real thing! Bitsy (Gigi) won a prize for exactly guessing Katie's waist measurement! A huge thanks to Lauren for opening up her home for the shower and to all the friends and family who joined us today!!
Theo has been on an eating strike of sort...... baby food, that is. He still takes the bottle like a champ, but he went through a 2-3 week span of refusing to eat from a spoon. I could tell by the look in his eye last night that he was ready to eat again. He ate a whole tub of green beans and polished off a container of yo baby. He loved the yogurt!!! Big brother had to join in on the fun!!

Coming back to life

The weather is gorgeous outside today so I took the boys out to the gravel pit to play. Theo loved looking around (he's a nature boy) and even reached his hand down into the rocks! Jack played very sweetly around his brother and even shared a hotwheel with him. I joined in on the fun and then the 3 of us came inside to watch Robie the roomba vacuum the living room. It's the little things in life......
