Hodgepodge

We're in full swim team mode right now. Jack has practice every morning so washing towels, swim suits and rash guards has become my full-time gig :) It's been great though and Jack is loving it!

I've also enjoyed that Theo has taken up naps again recently. He gave up naps at 2 and rarely napped at school this year. Gotta love how swimming wears kids out!

Jack has been keeping up with his phonics program on the computer. There are 200+ lessons that will hopefully keep Jack sharp this summer :) We gave him earphones to use while he does his work.

Theo did his very first connect the dot today! It was in a Batman activity book and had an outline :)

Lastly, here are Jack's baseball picture and his latest Lego project. He completed almost all of the pirate ship himself (Dave did assist and help fine-tune). So cool!

Today's projects

I stocked up on things to keep the boys busy (at least for a little while) before they got out of school. The dollar section at Michael's and Dollar Tree are great for that type of stuff! Jack loved doing this rubbing activity but it was a little advanced for Theo. He did a foam shape activity instead and rocked it :) I also brought out a pack of Smencils (scented pencils) to make doing the bridge K-1 workbook more fun for Jack. It worked today at least ;)

Theo's Spring Blast!

Theo finished up preschool at Cedarwood today and performed some songs with his class at Spring Blast. It was a bittersweet day for me since this day ended a 3 year run at Cedarwood. Theo will be going to Jack's school next year in their pre-pre K program (for kids with late Fall birthdays). Cedarwood has been so nurturing and is really a terrific preschool. We've really made some friends with the other parents there and everyone is truly wonderful. We will especially miss Jack and Theo's teacher, Mrs. Angerdina. She has taught Theo so much this year and it's been amazing to watch him do things I never dreamed possible only 9 months earlier.

After the kids performed everyone was dismissed to have fun on the playground. Theo ate donuts off a string, decorated a cookie, had a popsicle, scooped up ducks in a pool (which he LOVED), got his hair spray painted in a Batman shape, played in a sprinkler, played in bubble foam....... he had a great time!!!

Now both boys are out of school for summer! Yea!

School is out for SUMMER!

We took full advantage of summer break today by meeting up with Jack's friend Michael from school. Michael's sister, Molly, will be in Theo's class next year at Jack's school (finally will have both kids at the same place!!!). I got Jack a cookie cake in honor of his graduation (which I totally forgot to pick up yesterday!) and the kids devoured it all :) They played at a splash pad near the lake and just had a great time. Theo even took a 2 hour nap! Score :)

Jack had a skills test for the swim team he'll be on this summer. He did great! I was so proud. Remembered to do his strokes and everything. Practice starts tomorrow morning and runs through the beginning of July.

Finally, in between all of our activities, we made time to do reading/writing/math. Gotta keep those skills sharp this summer. Starfall added a section that is awesome. It's $35 for a year subscription but it's worth it. Jack has tons of books to read online and Theo plays the math/phonics games. Check it out!

Jack's Kindergarten Graduation

Today Jack's school held a graduation ceremony for Pre-K and Kindergarten. Each class had their own room and we lucked out by getting in the 2nd row! We found out that Jack was getting an honor award for 2nd highest average when we opened the program and saw his name. He and the first overall average winner stood on the front row together (which was great for pictures and the video Dave shot)! The class was all introduced, presented with their bags containing their diplomas and award certificates, and then the kids performed two songs for the crowd.

Gigi and Dada were able to come to the ceremony. We definitely felt the love from everyone who wasn't able to come though :) I took pictures of all of Jack's certificates (his GPA was 95.6, winning him 2nd place overall, and he got math, reading and spelling certificates for scoring over 90% in those areas). We also got the results from the Stanford Achievement Test back in April and Jack scored above grade level in every area! That's how his school tracks how the students are performing as a whole.

It was really a great day and we enjoyed seeing some of the other parents that we've met from birthday parties this Spring. We really credit Mrs. Casrill, the Assistant Principal, and Mrs. Toombs, his teacher, for making Jack's first semester a very positive one! He made little friends in his class (Michael and Cameron) who we look forward to seeing over the summer.

Happy graduation, Jack! We're super proud of you!

Country Critters

Theo went to a birthday party out in the country today for his friends Julia and Hope. It was HOT and HUMID outside. The nice week of spring weather we've enjoyed this week is gone. *sigh* Theo fed some of the animals but quickly got bored with that and ran off to play. There were so many things to do there! They had a playground, little rides for a quarter, a hayride and of course, the animals! Theo had so much fun that he went to bed for the day at 4:30 :) Thanks Julia and Hope!

Wall of numbers

Jack has been doing the number challenge ever since he started his new school. He told me that he really wanted to reach 1000 by the end of school so he could get his name up on the wall. He brought his sheets home (the number challenge is an activity done only before school starts) to get extra time in and finished up on Thursday! He was so proud of himself and said his teacher was as well :)

Our graduate!

Here is a picture of a proof that Jack brought home today of him in his cap and gown for Kindergarten graduation on Monday! He said he had to wear the biggest size cap ;) No surprise there!

The-ette?

Theo loves getting in to his friend Juliet's stash of dress up stuff whenever we go over to her house. All the other kids were playing outside and Theo sneaked off and came back looking like this..... Blackmail pictures for sure!!!

Camping in style

Gigi and Dada bought an Airstream camper recently and brought it over to a park near us over the weekend. The park has waterspouts and the kids enjoyed making frequent trips to visit! Uncle Dane and Aunt Debbie even drove over this past weekend and brought their boat. Jack got to go fishing and loved every second of it! We were in Dallas so the only picture I have is the one I snapped before we left :)

KD fun day

A bunch of my sorority sisters drove over to Denton Saturday to come visit me. They live all around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and I haven't seen some of them in over 2 years. We had lunch together and saw the movie Bridesmaids. It was so funny and we cried from laughing so hard! It's a total chick flick :) Thank you Courtney, Lauren, Maggie and Shannon for spending the whole day with me! Shannon hooked me up with shoes to wear (long story) and Lauren charged my iPhone for me in her car :) We found this strange place called UR Moms outside of the movie theater and had to take a picture in front of it. Too funny!!
