Meeting up with friends

I found out a neighbor and her family were also in Gulf Shores while we were, so we made plans to meet up. Rain kinked our plans for the water park so we opted for a movie and lunch at Lulu's. We had great weather the next day for Waterville. Jack was in heaven having a buddy to ride the adventurous slides with that day. The park was small enough that we could let them go to a specific ride on their own. Theo and the little sister of Jack's friend stayed in the shrimp boat area the entire time. They had a blast! We did all venture out to the wave pool and that was a huge hit. We really enjoyed hanging out with friends and may have to make plans ahead of time to do that again!

Collage from the beach

The boys and I joined Gigi in Gulf Shores for a week at the beach.  We spent most of our days alternating between our rental chairs, the pool, relaxing in the condo, and eating out. I took the kids to The Wharf one day to get airbrushed shirts made. We also picked up shark tooth necklaces for souvenirs.

Canvases Galore!

I've been putting in some hours up in my craft room lately (it's air conditioned- the downstairs a/c died Monday), making tons of canvases out of our fabulous pictures from throughout the years.  I printed out dozens of 5x7 pictures only to discover that 5x7 canvases are extremely difficult to find. Even online!  And are not cheap at all.  I finally lucked out at Hobby Lobby, purely by coincidence, last night.  I slapped some Modge Podge and accent paint around them and hung those puppies up!  I did get some 6x8 canvases on clearance a while back and experimented with wrapping them with fabric.  I like the way those turned out and think that will add a little "visual interest".  Stay tuned for more products!

Sending Off Sarah

My book club is losing a great member.  Sarah is moving away to Colorado next week so we all took her out for one last night "on the town".  We made a circuit around bars by the lakefront and gave her a proper farewell.  Now I'll have someone to visit in the Denver area at least :)

Percy Quin

We left straight from Winne the Pooh and headed up to McComb, MS for the Hadskey family reunion.  All of the cousins were there, some that we missed since we arrived late.  The boys had great fun with Henry and Blake since they are so close in age.  We walked down to the lake and took a cousin picture (minus 2) and enjoyed the setting sun.  Theo played waiter/chef for us today in the kitchen.  Here he is standing up on a chair telling us what was available :)

Summer Stars

Jack played the Green Narrator in Winnie the Pooh, put on by the Summer Stars program here.  Everything took place at our church and it was fantastic.  The kids learned their lines, choreography, stage knowledge and backstage ettiquite in just 5 days.  Saturday was a LONG day for Jack and me, but having friendly faces in the audience (friends and family) sure helped!  We gave Jack the Elder Wand from Harry Potter in lieu of flowers from all of his relatives :)

2012 Swim Team

The Sanctuary Swim Team wrapped up practice last night by playing games with the kids, and the most popular one was the "fill a swim cap with water and drop it on your head" game.  The boys LOVED it.  They had their last swim meet this morning and Theo was NOT a happy camper, waking up well over an hour before he normally does.  Both boys beat their best time from the informal swim meet a few weeks ago, so that's great!  We had to leave after only one heat since Jack has drama camp.  They both got an early morning sno ball and that made for smiling boys.  Here Theo is with his favorite coach, Emily.    She adored Theo and always lavished attention on him.  We'll miss her!
