Room Mom Duties

Life hit the ground running once we started back to school.  I had to whip together a burlap wreath to be auctioned off for the school Fun Day next weekend.  Each class also had to make an art item for the auction.  I ventured outside the box and had the kids make a balloon birthday wreath, complete with a banner.  It was all made by the kids!  They had a blast.  I hope both items bring in some money!

The fun didn't stop with just crafts, though.  Each class also performs a dance at Fun Day, and the room moms are responsible for choreographing and teaching the dance to the class.  We selected "Dancing Queen" for our dance (to go with a royalty theme for Fun Day).  Seventies type clothing did not fit into our small budget for costumes, so we switched decades and tie dyed shirts instead.  We also got groovy accessories for the kids to wear.  Stay tuned for the finished look!

Dogsledding!

The boys and I went dogsledding on our last day in Breck.  I found out later that it was the last day of the dogsledding season.  Boy were we lucky!!  Two people were able to ride on the dogsled at one time.  One was the musher, or leader, while the other was a passenger.  Jack loved mushing and Theo loved being a passenger.  I was musher once, and that was enough for me!!  The rest of the passengers rode on a sleigh behind a snow mobile.  That was quite an experience as well!!  The dogs and the snowmobile went faster than I ever dreamed possible.  We went over bumps and dips in the snow that catapulted the sleigh and sled all over the place. I was hanging on for dear life at some points!

The boys played in the snow before we caught the shuttle back to our condo.  They got to make a snowman and were happy as could be.

Venturing out in Breck

I picked up the boys at 3:30 each day from ski school.  We usually rode the gondola home since it was truly a breathtaking ride. I always got coffee for myself and sports drinks for the boys while we rode on the gondola.  Breck had an amazing crepe stand that Theo and I found.  Mmmm.

We also went to eat at the Columbine Cafe for breakfast since it had family ties to friend's of ours.  I got to take Theo to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (recall I took Jack everyday in Park City last ski trip).  We made the most of the free bus and shuttle system in Breck by going all over town.  I can't say enough good things about Breck.  I look forward to taking the boys again, especially now that I have a feel for the transportation there!

Skiing in Breckenridge

Matt and Sarah drove us up to Breckenridge on Easter Sunday.  Our condo was near Main St. of Breckenridge.  We had the best of both worlds since the free ride bus stop was behind our parking lot!  Made it so easy to take a 5 minute ride up the mountain to Peak 8.  The kids did ski school (Jack did 4 days, Theo did 3) at the Children's Castle.  Jack quickly advanced to level 4, the double black diamond group.  He had a GREAT time with his instructor, Eric.  Theo never ventured out of the magic carpet area, but also enjoyed himself immensely.  I could spy on him before pick up time each day.  I saw him eating snow and just playing in the snow.  He had more fun doing that, I'm convinced!!!

I only skied one day, but was fortunate to see Jack while I was out with my ski lesson group.  That made my day! We had a photography session with the Epic Pass photographer.  They took pictures of each ski student and had the photos for sale.  I sweet talked him into taking pictures of us in the snowy area outside of the ski school.  I'm so glad he agreed because I just love the picture of the 3 of us!

Phone Dump

It's been CRAZY around here lately.  Let's see.........
We widened our driveway after years of having to park on the grass.  I use the garage and Dave always had to be over on the grass so I could get around him.  Not anymore!!

I got a new (used) car!  Gas was eating me alive in the van, and though I loved the room, it just didn't make sense on a day to day basis.  My new car is zippy and gets great gas mileage.  It's a Cross Tour, which is an Accord with a hatch back.  I love it!

My friend, Betsy, had her 4th baby, Luke.  He's adorable and I go over to her house any chance I get to see him.

The boys' school had weekly fish fries and a special crawfish boil each week during Lent season.  We made every one of them and had a blast!!

Pizza with honey!

Mira insisted on taking us to her favorite pizza parlor when we arrived in Golden.  They have honey at each table and you dip your pizza crusts in the honey.  I persuaded my skeptical boys to try it...... and they LOVED it.
