Ashley's graduation

Dave and I traveled over to Denton, Texas this past weekend for my cousin Ashley's college graduation. Tons of family and friends joined us to celebrate. Ashley now is a college graduate and has a degree in education.

After the ceremony we headed over to a bar near campus. My aunt and uncle rented out the patio and we had a great time catching up. We closed the place out in the wee hours of the morning. We always have such a good, fun time when we're all together :) There was lots of dancing, toasting and entertaining going on. None of us really felt good the next day ;)

My aunt and uncle hosted a reception for Ashley the day after graduation. They put together an awesome slideshow that was fun to watch and a bunch of people toasted/roasted Ashley. We loved seeing everyone and can't wait to get together again soon!!!

Tuesday fun

Theo loves arts and crafts so we had fun making a new collar for Spot and a bracelet for Mickey Mouse yesterday :) He also made silly faces of each member of our family. Can you guess which is which?

My sweet presents

The boys each made sweet presents for me at school for Mother's Day and I treasure them! Both boys decorated flower pots. Notice how Theo selected yellow? Jack also made a notebook at Art Time for me. So cute. I also love the card my friend Kerstin sent me. She's a fellow boy mom :)

After school fun

Jack gets out of school around 2:15 each day so I thought it would be fun to hit the pool after I picked him up. We had the pool to ourselves for a couple of hours (most schools get out an hour or so later). The boys had a great time and just played and played. They were rowdy!!! But now they're both whipped. Score one for mom!

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day. I got to sleep in (A rare treat. Ask any parent.) and lounge around before going out to lunch. We got all spiffed up and went out to eat at The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant. I must brag on my children- the were well behaved, didn't touch the burning pot and scald themselves and actually ate the fondue/fixins! Success. We gorged ourselves with queso/swiss cheese (dipped with veggies/bread/chips) for our first fondue course. Next we had lobster, chicken, filet mignon, pork and shrimp and dipped in a choice of heavenly wine/broth mix or oil. We completed our meal with chocolate!!!!! The boys naturally enjoyed this course the most (maybe we all did??) and dipped cheesecake, marshmallows, pound cake, brownies, strawberries, pineapple and bananas in a choice of milk or turtle chocolate. YUM.

I am so blessed to have a wonderful mother and mother-in-law. I also have a husband who made sure the boys honored me today with thoughtful presents and cards. I am so blessed!

Carnival

We traveled over to Baton Rouge for the weekend (after baseball, naturally) and enjoyed a small carnival at a local church. The rides were mostly for little kids and the boys had a nice time. We learned that Jack is fearless; he even got on the Ferris Wheel all by himself since the adults didn't purchase wrist bands for the rides. Theo is a little more reserved but generally went along with things as long as he rode with Jack. This is all a great gauge for what we can do in the future.....

Bye bye Bronco

Many of you who know us well know Dave's love and my hate relationship with his restored 74 Bronco. It's mainly sat unused in our garage for close to 8 years, rendering me unable to park in the garage. I would curse it on rainy days when I had to lug the kids out of their carseats and so forth. Dave appeased me by parking it in our backyard a few months back but didn't have the heart to sell it yet (he restored it before we married and always envisioned having it as a "toy" to play around with the boys. The kinks to the Bronco were mainly transmission problems and the need for carseats until age 10 (it seems) and really limited its use. Dave sold it today to a Ford dealer in Mississippi who has the time, money and knowledge on how to get the Bronco back in to tip-top shape. It's going to be weird not having it here. One day when the boys are both old enough to appreciate it, I know we'll get something else fun for them to work on together. When we have a 3 car garage :)
