Soccer Sunday

Jack's first season (we're not counting the season he played at 3 years old) of soccer is in full swing. We had a make up game today and Jack got a lot of play time this game. He needs the practice since he's never really played much. His team is a mix of 5 and 6 year olds and have named themselves The Snipers!

Gigi and Dada passed through Mandeville to bring us something we forgot at their house and got to catch Jack's game. I've resorted to giving Theo ring pops to lick while Jack plays. Keeps him quiet and in one place :)

Holy scissors, Batman!

We did more cutting today. What can I say? The boy loves it. Now I have scraps all over my floor. I mean all over!! He stayed on the lines just for a second and then it was all about the confetti. He did write his name and decorate a Valentine's Day card for his teacher in between cutting ;)

599, 600

The kids in Jack's class work on a "math challenge" each morning before the bell rings to start their day. Jack finished 500-600 and is now working on 600-700. Some of the kids that have been there all year are up to 1,500 now. These are 5 year olds!

I found Jack's graphing paper the other day and he got busy with making new mazes for me to complete :) Here's Theo's Valentine's Day shirt. He's a chick magnet alright. Love it!

Stack o' fun

I don't know about y'all, but the weekends (esp. cold and rainy ones) are LONG. We kept the boys busy today with Jack's homework (he's doing addition here) and painting by numbers. Even Theo got in on the action. And here is the stack of seat work from the past two weeks at Jack's new school. No wonder he says his brain hurts from learning each day. That and he's eating us out of house and home!!!! Brain food :)

Discovery Center

We took the kids to the Hammond Children's Museum yesterday to burn off some little boy energy ;) It's been cold and rainy all week so we have two little boys who have not been able to get out for several days. They had a ball there building, climbing, imagining and just plain ole playing.

Jack aced his second spelling pre-test today with a perfect score! This week's words were much more challenging so I really wasn't expecting him to have it all down by this morning. We did one more practice test at breakfast and he studied his word list in the car on the way to school :) Guess it worked!

Jack sent in treat bags today to school as part of his "student of the week" privileges so I let him enjoy a ring pop to celebrate his spelling test success. He's really learning the value of hard work equalling success at this tender age.

We're sending in a king cake to share with the boys in his class tomorrow to cap off "student of the week". Jack gets to be the king! A girl in the class will bring in another cake just for the girls and be the queen. We thought it would be nice to send his old class a king cake as well with a note from him so I'll be dropping that by tomorrow. He talks about his old class and school some but mainly just misses his old teacher.

Fun with scissors

The other fun fact we found out from Theo's mid-year evaluation at school was that he LOVES to cut things with scissors. He'll sit there for hours if you let him and cut paper in to shreds. It's loads of fun to clean up. On the other hand, I will hire him out if you need custom confetti......
