I have to beg and plead to spike Jack's hair. He says it's boring to do that (???) and I say it's the opposite; it's fun hair! He just looked so handsome when he came down in his uniform that I had to spike his hair. And then I just had to take a picture of this debonaire little boy..... and he flashed his dimples. I get to go volunteer in his classroom tomorrow! Theo has a half day at Cedarwood (he starts there with Jack's teacher from the 3 year old class!) and that will give me time to be present at Jack's school. I also plan on being present at Theo's school too. Freedom is a wonderful thing :)

Kindergarten!
Jack woke up this morning and got himself dressed for school. He informed me that he put on Thomas the Train underwear :) I fixed him some oatmeal and he opened cards from us and Mimi and Papa. They included $5, which made him ecstatic!! We did not but he still liked our card ;) Ha ha. We all headed out to the bus stop a little after 8 am and I felt like such the Kindergarten mother with my giant camera around my neck :) He was sooooo excited and I could barely get him to turn around on the bus for a picture. He went to the middle and took a seat, beaming ear to ear. Dave and I were stoic and just happy that he was so excited.
We talked a lot about what to expect today last night at bedtime and I was getting a little misty eyed as Jack asked me lots of questions in a "small" voice..... I hope I set his mind at ease. Guess I did by how excited he was today! We practiced going saying "Hi, my name is Jack. Do you want to come play with me over here?" and I also told him that some kids may cry today and that just means that they are scared and to be extra nice to them.
I also braced his teacher for millions of questions. Jack sure is inquisitive!!!

Summer birthday celebration
The kids in my Mom's club celebrated the summer birthdays today at a little kids' tea party place. Everyone dressed up in costumes and Jack LOVED being Buzz Lightyear (complete with wings, gloves and boot covers). Theo picked Superman and had a wand in his hand most of the party ;) The kids got makeup or hand tattoos, sang karaoke, put on a fashion show and enjoyed cupcakes and lemonade. I personally couldn't get out of there fast enough (imagine 3-4 year olds belting out tunes on a microphone) but the kids had a blast!

Young Chef's
Jack attended a birthday party not long ago at Young Chef's Academy and just loved it. My Mom's club hosted a class for the kiddos today and they made spaghetti/sauce and cupcakes/icing from scratch. Jack loved every second of it and gobbled up the fruits of his labor. Theo was at Toddlearn camp and that worked out well. The little 3 year olds there struggled to keep still during the down time and I was glad to only have Jack to tend to ;)

Jen and Bob turn 40
One of our couple friends both turn 40 this month and celebrated it last night with an awesome party (at the same bar that I had Dave's 30th birthday at 4 years ago). Jen and Bob are so much fun and we really enjoyed meeting their college friends and family. A lot of friends from book club were there too and Dave luckily knew most of the husbands. Thanks for a rockin' evening, Jen and Bob!!
