King cake

Jack had his first king cake of the season tonight after dinner! He may have had a bite or two in years past, but this is the first time that I made a big production of letting him have a whole piece of his own.

And here is Theo "driving" the Wii game while Jack took a break to eat!

Brotherly love

Jack has reached a stage with Theo lately where he actually professes love for his baby brother and enjoys his company. The turning point for him was one day in the car when Theo passed a toy to Jack. Jack exclaimed "Theo shares now!!!" and went on to say "He's a good baby now". We do refer to Theo as "bad baby pie" on occasion (referenced from the movie "Waitress"). Here the brothers are before bed in their pjs. Theo just got these pjs from Gigi for Christmas and they don't fit anymore. Hence the highwaters.

Fur cap

Jack inherited his father's head of hair........ very coarse and thick. I call it his fur cap because it does look like a coon skin cap or something when it gets long. I took Jack to get a trim today and I couldn't get over how much my little boy has grown up this past year. We used to have to hold him down, almost hog-tied, to trim his hair and now here he was sitting in the chair by himself, with the drape on, being still and cooperating! The stylist really did a great job and trimmed his hair for over 15 minutes. Now I can easily spike the front. What a difference a year makes.

What the heck are these for?

Theo absolutely hates to eat from a spoon........ even good stuff like pudding or yogurt. You literally have to shove the first bite into his mouth to convince him that it's something good. He just likes finger foods better. I tried giving him a spoon to see if he would take a stab at self-feeding, but no dice. He was like "what is this?".

Similarly, I got little toddler markers for him to draw with and he looked at me like I was crazy. He could have cared less. He will use a crayon, but apparently the little markers left something to be desired for him.

Pizza for all tastes

We had pizza night tonight for dinner. My Mom's club did this a few months ago and it was a big hit with the boys. I got all of the stuff pre-made and had Jack put the toppings on his pizza. We had to be creative since we were still using the mini fridge and only had Mexican cheese :) Bet you can't pick out my pizza!

Twelfth Night

Mardi Gras season has officially begun! January 6th is 12 days after Christmas and coincides with Epiphany (don't even know what that is) and is referred to as Twelfth Night. There are a couple of small Mardi Gras parades that roll tonight, kicking off the season of king cakes, beads and debauchery!! Jack and I made some purple, green and gold paper chains to hang around the house. I even put out a couple of Mardi Gras-inspired decorations! Dave and I did so much organizing over Christmas break that I have room to store these types of things now.

Here is a picture of the boys from this morning. I had to make jambalaya for a church meeting this morning and the boys were watching tv before school. Jack had his arm around Theo so sweetly that I just had to take a picture of it!
