The kids in my Mom's club celebrated the summer birthdays today at a little kids' tea party place. Everyone dressed up in costumes and Jack LOVED being Buzz Lightyear (complete with wings, gloves and boot covers). Theo picked Superman and had a wand in his hand most of the party ;) The kids got makeup or hand tattoos, sang karaoke, put on a fashion show and enjoyed cupcakes and lemonade. I personally couldn't get out of there fast enough (imagine 3-4 year olds belting out tunes on a microphone) but the kids had a blast!

Young Chef's
Jack attended a birthday party not long ago at Young Chef's Academy and just loved it. My Mom's club hosted a class for the kiddos today and they made spaghetti/sauce and cupcakes/icing from scratch. Jack loved every second of it and gobbled up the fruits of his labor. Theo was at Toddlearn camp and that worked out well. The little 3 year olds there struggled to keep still during the down time and I was glad to only have Jack to tend to ;)

Jen and Bob turn 40
One of our couple friends both turn 40 this month and celebrated it last night with an awesome party (at the same bar that I had Dave's 30th birthday at 4 years ago). Jen and Bob are so much fun and we really enjoyed meeting their college friends and family. A lot of friends from book club were there too and Dave luckily knew most of the husbands. Thanks for a rockin' evening, Jen and Bob!!

Kindergarten!
We had a meet and greet with Jack's teacher this afternoon. We were confused about the time (website had one time window, school sign said another) so we ended up milling around the school and going to Jack's classroom a bit early. His teacher was so gracious and let us hang out and talked to Jack the whole time, even giving him a sticker. Theo was an absolute mess and was running circles around so we cut out shortly afterwards. He fell out of the car today (??) and scraped up the side of his face. The child won't nap but clearly needs a nap still but what is a mom to do. I think he's even more stubborn than his brother was at this age and that speaks volumes.
But I digress... the classroom was amazing and loaded with cool things. There is a Promethian (smart) board in the classroom and I'm thrilled about that! It's like a touch screen computer that is interactive. I asked for a structured teacher and hinted that Jack loved technology and this is the best of both worlds!! Jack goes back Monday morning for his screening and then I go Wednesday night for a parent-only meeting. Theo will be staying at home, thank goodness. :)

Gulfport museum

My Mom's club headed over to the Children's Museum in Gulfport today for some air conditioned fun. We had a great turnout and both boys had a blast! We ended up riding over with my friend Connie and her boys. All of the kids enjoyed climbing in the contraption in the center of the museum. Theo loved piloting the plane to "Mexico" and Jack and his friend, Ryan, went crabbing in a boat. The kayak and weather board were also popular ;) Very fun day, for sure. We're packing in the fun before school starts in a week.

Big Day
Theo is going to a little camp at Toddlearn on Mondays and Wednesdays until school starts. I purposefully planned this to give Jack and me time together before he starts the big Kindergarten. So today we hit Wal-Mart and got school uniform stuff, lace up shoes, sunglasses and a watch for Jack, silly bandz...... and then hit Pets Mart for a fish. Jack named the fish Miko and we're hoping Miko lives longer than Harry and Harry Newfish did ;)
We also found out that Jack's teacher this year is one of the more strict ones and is a stickler for rule following. I'm in heaven and know Jack will thrive in this environment! It's exactly what I hoped and prayed for!!

Jack's big trip to Memphis
Jack had such a fun weekend up in Memphis with Uncle Miller and Aunt Sarah (and Gigi and Dada too!). He loved riding the train there and back and enjoyed all of the treats and lego toys that Gigi stockpiled for him. Uncle Miller and Aunt Sarah had big things planned for him. He helped Miller steer the tractor and ride all around the property, flew as co-pilot in the company plane, fed all the animals, rode the tractor some more, went fishing, planted flowers....... think he had fun?? He wore his rain boots and they came in handy I'm told :) Thank you to Gigi, Dada, Uncle Miller and Aunt Sarah for a wonderful weekend that he's not soon to forget!!
