I took Theo to get a trim on Monday. He had an unfortunate hair cut back in December that made him look like Lloyd in Dumb and Dumber (the lady cut his bangs straight across the front). I've hated his hair for 2 months and finally it was getting long enough for a repair! I was very specific on how to trim the front and now his hair is back to it's cute self. He still has nice, soft baby hair at this point. Jack's hair made the turn to coarse and thick around this age and I'm waiting to see how Theo fares.

Just a trim
I took Theo to get a trim on Monday. He had an unfortunate hair cut back in December that made him look like Lloyd in Dumb and Dumber (the lady cut his bangs straight across the front). Caped crusaders
Mimi and Papa gave Jack his Superman pjs for Christmas and he's loved wearing them ever since. I found a matching pair in Theo's size a while back and put them on him for the first time last night. The boys looked so cute in the matching pjs, complete with a cape. Dave tried to take some pictures of the boys and here is what he got: a whole lot of wrestling and not a lot of smiles.

Lazy Sunday
We went to the Saturday service at church and got to enjoy a lazy Sunday around here. I relish reading the Sunday paper over coffee. Jack had a "lightbulb" discovery of the funny pages recently and enjoyed looking at the comics. The weather here has gone from cold to warm, seemingly overnight, so here Jack is in summer pj's and Theo is in long sleeves outside. Go figure.

Making Valentine's
It's been a regular Valentine sweat shop here lately. Jack has been diligently making peel and stick valentines for a solid week and now we've added the candy variety to the mix. I had him write his name on the candy packets for his classmates today. Notice how he's gripping the marker correctly these days! His teachers at school are really working on writing skills with the kids and their hard work is showing. I let Jack sample the yummy candy after he was finished writing his name. Notice the new placemat with a map of the US. This helps him understand where Mimi and Papa live, along with where Daddy travels. Today he asked where Mickey Mouse and Disney World were....... and told me that he wanted to go there. Better hide that map!
Burning off energy
My boys are much like puppies; they have tons of energy and I have to find ways to burn it off every day. The weather was gorgeous today so I let them loose outside after school. Theo does not stay still for even a second and runs from one end of the yard to the other. Makes it fun to take pictures, even with the fast camera!

10 things about each kid
Jack:
1) He can fully dress himself from head to toe! I lay out his clothes for him and he takes off his pajamas and gets himself dressed in the mornings. Even puts his shoes and coat on by himself.
2) He is an early riser and always gets up at 6:15 am, without fail. He comes downstairs and will play quietly or read books until his brother wakes up, usually around 7 or 7:15 am. I know, I'm lucky.
3) He can write very well already. If he is unsure of spelling, I just tell him and he can write it!
4) His best friend in the whole entire world is Shaffer from school. We've had several playdates after school and those two are hilarious together. They became best friends on the very first day of school and Jack swore that he knew Shaffer before school started even though I'm almost positive he didn't.
5) He loves to play games on the Wii. He is pretty good at Mario Kart and Cars. It's fun when we race each other. It gives us something to do together that Theo doesn't interfere with!
6) He is a very good eater now and will try just about anything. He went through a horribly picky year between 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 and now it seems he is past it. He eats vegetables and fruit and usually cleans his plate both at school and at home.
7) He got the full cleaning at the dentist today! Not just brushing on fluoride either.... polishing and everything. He didn't flinch and was so proud of his "sparkly" white teeth!
8) He loves superheroes and is really into Batman right now. We turned his dormer closet in his room into a "batcave" and he loves to play up there with friends.
9) He already thinks girls have cooties and only plays with the boys at school. Some of the girls have a crush on Jack and he's oblivious. He'll tell me that he doesn't play with girls and only likes the boys in his class. His teacher tells me that he's friends with everyone and floats between groups. Go Jack!
10) He can remember so much that it blows my mind. He will bring up things from a year ago that I swear I don't remember half the time. He never misses a beat. He asks almost daily to go see snow since he had so much fun playing in the snow back in December.
Theo:
1) He just learned how to slide down the stairs on his tummy! He can do this by himself now very well. I'm thinking I can ditch the baby gate soon. Yee-haw!
2) He will hold my hand when we are out and about and walk vs. being carried everywhere. He's just about 30 lbs and it was getting to be too much for me to carry him everywhere for very long. He's a chunk! He hasn't turned loose to dart like Jack always did but I'm waiting for that day.
3) He loves to climb and has scaled every surface of our house. He then will stand on whatever surface he's climbed. I'm just waiting for that trip to the ER.
4) He can open doors now. Theo is pretty tall and can reach the door knobs. He surprised me by opening the door to the bathroom yesterday as I dried my hair. I was trying to keep him in the bathroom with me but he had other plans I guess.
5) He says tons of words and repeats lots of things already. It really blows my mind.
6) He can identify and say "purple". We're working on the other colors.
7) He gives huge, open mouth kisses now. I call him "parana baby" because it looks like he's trying to eat my mouth when he kisses me. I love it regardless.
8) He is a mover and shaker. The kid is on the go all day long and will only sit still if he's eating or watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (his favorite show!!).
9) He is obsessed with one blanket and has quite a love-affair with it. Much like Linus from the Peanuts gang.
10) He is one of the most content and well-mannered babies I've ever seen. He really doesn't ever fuss unless he wants to be fed (which seems like all day, ha ha). I think the thumb sucking helps keep him quiet and content, but his personality is pretty laid back.

Going, going.....
Gone!! Jack's absolute favorite thing to do on the weekend is to make brownies. His school incorporates cooking into the curriculum and Jack loves to help out whenever possible! Here he is enjoying the fruits of his labors. It brings back such memories from my own childhood! Of course, I never had to share the bowl or the spoon! Luckily, Theo was entertained eating his second breakfast and wanted nothing to do with the spoon.
