It was a VERY special day today; Theo came home with his very first reader at school. In PPK and PK, the kids are promoted to reading when they are ready. No one is pushed into it. He has his very own bookmark highlighter just like Jack had last year in Kindergarten. I remember the principal talking about how exciting it is when the PK kids get their first reader and how everyone hoots and hollers over them reading. Well, I can tell you that Jack and I were hooting and hollering like fools as Theo read. He was so excited that he read 6 pages :) I hope it's just the beginning of a lifetime of a love of reading.
