I fly by the seat of my pants sometimes. Okay, alot. Case in point: Called up Aunt Kittie and Cousin Christy at about 10 am on Friday to ask if we were to say, come to Memphis this weekend, could we stay with them? They said yes!, come!, so I called up my in laws and told them to pack a bag and meet me in Hammond at 6:30 pm. Then I called up Uncle Miller and filled him in. Poor Dave was the last to know since he was tied up with business stuff. Lucky for me that he's a good sport (and driver!).
The boys had Art Time till 6 pm so we got a late start on Friday. We stopped in Canton, MS for the night and headed out after breakfast on Saturday. We arrived at Uncle Miller's house around lunch time and brought Popeye's for 9 hungry people to eat (our 6, plus Miller, Sarah, and Sarah's mom, Ann). We all took turns holding sweet Rowan, who had just turned a month old! Poor Ann is still nursing a fractured hip that she got just the couple of days after Rowan's birth. She lives in New Mexico and has to stay until she's healed enough to drive home! I snapped so many pictures since poor Gigi didn't get one made with her youngest grand baby when she was there for the birth. Jack enjoyed holding Rowan but Theo LOVED it. He was kissing Rowan on the head and coming over to talk to him a lot. We brought Rowan a lovey and Gigi and Dada gave them a stack of old outfits that Miller, Dave and Jack had worn! Theo somehow missed out, guessing season didn't work out or something. Rowan gets to be the 4th Hadskey to wear those clothes :)
The boys made friends with the dogs and the horses and had great fun getting dirty and sweaty! We left after a couple of hours and visited with Uncle Bobby and Aunt Kittie (Gigi and Dada stayed over with them). We went out to eat with them and cousin Ryley was there visiting! Jack hadn't seen her in 1 1/2 years when they were in cousin Anne's wedding together. Dave and the kids headed over to Jerry and Christy's house after dinner and let the boys play with cousins Henry and Blake. They stayed up till late-thirty but just had the best time ever together. So did Dave and I as we visited with Jerry and Christy :)
We met up with Gigi, Dada, Bobby, Kittie and cousin Lucy for breakfast this morning before heading over to Miller and Sarah's to say goodbye. We all gave Rowan a kiss and got in some more snuggles. It was a lot of time spent in the car but it's time we'll all cherish.
