I've been slowly changing up the playroom into a more sophisticated area for the boys (and me to look at!!) over the past week. First came the bookshelf and baskets, next came the storage ottoman, then Dave lugged down the tv stand and we had the satellite guy come and hook up the tv....... and finally came some seating! Dave went and picked up this loveseat today and it's the perfect size for the room. The train table is huge and takes up a large chunk of the playroom, but I think having it angled like this will work. Theo can still squeeze by and play, Jack can sit on the loveseat and lounge, and I can hide toys away in baskets and the ottoman. It's a win-win. There is room in the left corner of the room (nearest the kitchen) for the computer armoire that I ordered. It's small and compact and will be perfect for Jack to sit at and fiddle on educational websites. He currently does this upstairs all alone and I'd much rather have him near by for the days he is surfing the world wide web!
Now we're just waiting on a painter to come and give estimates for painting this room to a spa-like blue. Help me decide if he should paint under the chair rail, leave it white, or paint everything but the wainscoating. The chair rail and wainscoating extend from the entry way and go all the way up the stairs.... but there is a distinct border from the play room to the entry way. I'm leaning towards painting it all and getting rid of the drab white. I'm open to opinions though!!

Looks good! I'd just paint above the chair rail. I think it will be nice with the blue to have the white below.
I like the contrast of the chair rail/wainscotting (sp?)with the paint. I think I'd leave it white too. Plus it'll still match the rest of your house. :)
like the two previous comments, i agree!! can't wait to see the new blue walls!!
