Lunch in Hammond

Gigi and Dada took the boys off our hands this weekend, so we met up with them half way between Mandeville and Baton Rouge to collect them today. Theo loved eating chips and salsa, even though it was super spicy! He kept telling me "that's hot" and then blowing on the chips! We really enjoyed getting to go out last night and sleep in this morning, all without having to pay a babysitter! Thanks, Gigi and Dada!!!

This family has been in my prayers and they could really use yours as well. A sorority sister of mine from Baylor lost her sweet niece yesterday. It's truly a heartbreaking story. Basically from what I understand, her sister went into labor and the baby was born brain-dead. They think the placenta was only functioning at 50% towards the end of her pregnancy and starved baby Reese of oxygen. Katie (the mom) and her husband, Jason, had to make the excruciating decision to donate Reese's heart to another baby before removing her from life support. Please pray for Katie, Jason and their families.

Jack's achievement!

Jack and Dave LOVE puzzles and have recently been tackling larger and larger projects. They put this 100 piece puzzle together this past weekend so today I pulled it out for Jack to work on. He worked and worked for about 2 hours. We went to a pool party and came back........ and he finished it! Completely by himself! Go Jack!

Orange beach

I took the boys on a last minute trip to Orange Beach this week. We stayed in a great little one bedroom condo across the street from the beach. The boys slept in bunk beds and I had a king bed all to myself! Dave has a company man in town from Canada this week and the boys don't have school for another couple of weeks, so I thought, why not!?! It just so happened that my neighbor and good friend Theresa and her family were at Gulf Shores the same days as we were! We met up with Aidan and Alyssa for some beach time and then went to Waterville (a water park) with the 4 kids. Jack and Theo had a BLAST at the beach and Waterville! I didn't bring my camera to the water park for obvious reasons but really wish I could have gotten some pictures of the boys there. We stopped and got peach ice cream from Burris' fruit stand on the way in to the beach on Tuesday. This was in honor of Dave, who claims he was tortured by long trips to this same fruit stand as a kid. Poor boy. I also took the boys to The Wharf and rode the ferris wheel with them. Jack and Theo loved it. I was kind of freaked out by how high up we were!! We went to Build a Bear and picked out a Tiger for Jack and a monkey for Theo.

All in all, this little trip was a blast! I handled it alone and know we can do this kind of stuff again! Go team mom!!!

Bladder of steel?

Theo is curious about the potty so on a whim (you know, one of those trips to Target where you find yourself buying things NOT on your list) I picked up this froggy potty. Theo had just downed a cup of milk and we figured he'd be primed to make a little pee. Well, we waited and waited....... and waited some more. We fed him all sorts of treats to get him to stay there. Nothing ever did end up happening. Oh well.

Uncle Miller

Uncle Miller had his 20th high school reunion this weekend so we drove over to Baton Rouge for a quick visit. The boys spent some quality time with him at Gigi and Dada's house. They also got spoiled with all of Gigi's yummy treats (strawberries with sugar was just one of many). They were in heaven!

"hair"

We've called this little trick "hair" ever since Jack was a baby! My boys have huge heads and sometimes shirts are very difficult to get off. We let them parade around with "hair" and then take the "hair" off. So cute!
