Thursday Night Lights
Jack has two baseball games a week, plus a practice, so we're out on the fields a ton during the week. His team, the Dodgers, is a cohesive team. The boys all get along well and cheer each other on like crazy during their turns at bat. It's super sweet to watch.
I've been taking the boys to a park on Fridays after school to let them burn off energy. They definitely earn some down time after the long week of school. Here they are playing with Erik and Blake.
Henny Penny
Jack's teacher sent me these pictures from the class play his reading group put on last week. He's getting into a groove in 2nd grade and making friends in his new class. We're super proud of him.

Here and There
We have been staying busy with Mimi. Dave took us to the race track for the remote control cars. We all took turns driving the cars (Dave and Jack were the best). We stumbled by a Civil War re-enactment and had to stop in for a peek. We also saw the 3D version of Finding Nemo before heading home yesterday. It's been a great visit :-)

Shameless Brag
Jack really finished his first full week of school on a strong note. He had majorly struggled with remembering his assignment pad, workbooks, and lunch box. The low point of the week came on Thursday when he neglected to bring home spelling words or definitions to study for Friday's test. He went only from memory and ended up getting a 100. I was shocked!
Theo also started getting graded on seat work and reading comprehension this week. I was really proud of him for writing his name on each sheet, completing all of the items, and for getting perfect scores :-)
Mimi's visit
Mimi flew in on Friday for a visit. We've been on the go ever since! We celebrated awesome test scores after school by hitting the park. The boys ran off tons of stored up energy with Mimi. I gave Jack a new extreme dot to dot book (up to 1400 dots) and he's been in heaven ever since. He and Mimi have traded off duties every 100 dots. We also had Jack's baseball game this morning. He's really improved his swing and has become a consistent hitter for his team.

King of Corrections
Second grade has us all reeling. There's been a huge jump in responsibility and curriculum, and Jack found himself doing mountains of corrections for the first time this past weekend. I crowned him the king of corrections. Lets hope he drops this title soon.

Beads of Courage
Sweet Corinne has been chosen as the spokesperson for the Houston chapter of Beads of Courage. The organization provides the beads that pediatric cancer patients earn for each procedure, blood draw, chemo, the list goes on. Corinne was diagnosed with ALL on her 2nd birthday and received over 1100 doses of chemo before her course of treatment was completed. This little girl is my hero, and I'm so proud of the work Beads of Courage does for all of the little heroes out there.
