Sushi Supper

I took the boys for sushi last night and Jack has graduated to using real chopsticks all by himself.  No more "cheaters".  Jack always eats crunchy rolls and Theo eats California rolls; while I stick to "harder" rolls with raw fish.  I convinced Jack to try the raw salmon roll last night and the middle picture was his reaction.  He finished it but wasn't a fan :)  They both devoured the edamame.  Makes me so proud!!

Sealant and....

Jack got sealant on his molars yesterday!  He did great and we hope it keeps him cavity-free for years to come.

Dave went and got the new bunk beds and assembled them while the boys were in school.  Talk about two excited little boys.  I'm going to put the decorations back on the wall and incorporate more of Jack's room. More pictures to come....

Teacher Appreciation

Here are the cute posters that my co-room mom and I created last week when we were helping out for Mother's Day. Jack's teacher borrowed my camera for Mrs. Jindal's visit, so I was able to ask her if we could "borrow" the kids, one by one.  I took the posters home and jazzed them up.  Now they are hanging on the teacher's door, hopefully brightening their day :)

Moving up

Today was a fun party and promotion day for Pack 85.  The Pack had a water slide for the children, and then it was time to get changed and get awards. Our Den advanced to the next rank of Wolf..  We'll save Jack's old Tiger cub neckerchief for Theo :)  Jack got a baggy full of achievements and belt loops to put on his uniform for next year.

First Lady of Louisiana

Supriya Jindal, the First Lady of Louisiana, visited the boys' school today. Her Foundation awarded smart boards to the 1st grade classes and she came by to talk to the students about the importance of math and science in daily life.  She then played trivia games with the kids using the smart board.  Jack's teacher wanted to use our good camera and took these pictures (I'm so happy to have these pictures to treasure this special event) today. Here is his sweet class with the First Lady.  Everyone talked about how NICE and warm she was to everyone.

Hours of fun

Our upstairs a/c decided to go out Monday afternoon, right as I started work on clearing out Theo's room to make way for bunk beds. The kids have been camping out in my bedroom for the past few nights and not really going upstairs (it got up to 86 yesterday!).  They have been entertaining themselves with a newly rediscovered parachute Captain America toy.  Hours of fun!

Prepping for Mother's Day

I love Google images.  It's even better than Pinterest sometimes :)  My co-room mom and I go into Theo's class tomorrow to do the Mother's Day craft with the kids.  We have a $2 budget for each craft per child.  That doesn't stretch far!  I found these towels at Dollar Tree and made my own puff paint (flour, salt, water and food coloring) to save money.  I already had the paint, so I did a little prototype with Theo before school.  Don't think these little towels will hold up to washing, but at least they are cute.  The co-room mom scored $1 photo albums for each child and I filled them with prints from throughout the year.  Thanks to Shutterfly for repeated 101 free print offers :)
