Lauren visits

My college friend Lauren came to visit this weekend from Dallas. Jack was only 9 months old when she last visited so we were super excited to have her come! My friend Betsy came out to the French Quarter with us last night. There might have been a karaoke song or two involved! We loved having you, Lauren!!

Red Bluff Farm

Jack's class went on a field trip to a local farm today. The weather couldn't have been better while we walked around and learned about the farm animals. Jack had fun but got tired out by the end since he's still a little weak from being sick all last week. Theo ended up tagging along at the last second and was very good. Just lugging him around on my shoulders tired me out, but otherwise he was great! We saw how dairy cows are milked, pet a lamb and goat, saw horses and chickens, took a hay ride, ate lunch in the shade, picked cotton and then pick a radish. :)

LSU/Alabama game

LSU had a big win over Alabama yesterday and I got to be there! Gigi lined up a sitter for the boys so I could attend my first game in over 2 years. The sun was bright and hot and I thought it would never go down. It didn't until there were only about 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter! But those were a glorious few minutes :) We all celebrated with margaritas at dinner before coming home to the kids. Geaux Tigers!

Muffins and Mimosas

The boys and I were up at the crack of dawn yesterday to hurry and eat breakfast at one of favorite places before heading to Baton Rouge for the LSU game later that day. The restaurant is decorated with signs and paintings from an artist in Destin, FL and she was there signing her work :) We pretty much had to hurry out of there after meeting her since the boys were all wound up from chocolate chip waffles. I swear sometimes I wish I could take them out on leashes!!

Home sick

Jack came down with a fever on Tuesday and right when I thought he was over it all, it reared its ugly head again. Blah. So he's been home pretty much all week :( What's the pits about this is that he's the Star of the Week in his class (they go alphabetically) and has missed all of his special show and tells. We have to go back to the dr. tomorrow for a repeat blood draw to see which way his counts are going. Could just be a virus but the dr. wants to make sure it's not anything bacterial.

We replaced the out-dated computer in the boys' playroom this past weekend. We ended up getting a Touchsmart for them since we felt that's the wave of the future. Might as well make the investment now vs. 2-3 years from now when they'll really be doing tons of homework online. So far the boys really like it and it's been so simple to use. And the best part is that it's so much faster than their old one! Eight years doesn't seem like a lot but it sure is in computer years :)
