Uh oh

We've had to crack down on all sorts of bad behaviors here this summer. Jack is used to being at school full-time and I think the extra down time of summer hasn't exactly been a good thing for him. We've had lots of full blown tantrums from him (flashing me back a couple of years. Yikes!) and Theo has taken up to biting (equally as disturbing). To say that I've been driven to drinking would be putting it mildly with these two. After today's lovely tantrum I decided to crack down. I've been meaning to do this but just haven't. Enough was enough though. Now Jack and Theo both have a behavior chart. They start the day on a green card. Any infraction that leads to a time out will get their green card flipped to yellow. From there we have orange and finally red. Red lands them in their room for bed (I'd love for someone to throw me in my room for the day). Jack and Theo shaped up and really responded to the card system. They get a sticker for keeping a green card all day and after 10 or so stickers, we'll give them a treat of some sort. Cross your fingers that this little system works out for us :)

Mmm, smores

The dog days of summer are upon us. We took the boys to the pool this afternoon and capped off the evening with smores. Jack and his dad make smores on their camping trips so Jack LOVES this special treat. Theo also LOVED this gooey snack. It only took 2 wipes to clean him off!

Firecrackers

After getting all sugared up with freedom toast, we decided to make marshmallow "firecrackers". We dipped marshmallows in chocolate and sprinkled them to make them patriotic! Jack loved the process and Theo loved eating marshmallows! Notice the pic of him making "fish lips". It's so hard to catch this expression but he makes fish lips all the time! It's just a Theo-ism that he's done since he was a baby-baby.

Freedom toast

I made the boys french toast this morning and changed it up just a bit in honor of July 4th. I added the white powdered sugar and then put red and blue sprinkles on top to create "freedom toast"!! I told the boys that we'd make this every 4th of July. Next we'll be making marshmallow "firecrackers", thanks to a post I saw on Facebook.

Old fashioned fun

We let the boys loose today in the front yard for a little sprinkler time. Jack loved it and Theo was unsure. He did manage to get wet, but just barely! Easier than going to the pool!

Mom's club banquet

My local Mom's Club had it's annual banquet this past Friday and I was sworn in as the vice president. I've been a member since Jack was 1 month old and have never served it in any capacity. I managed to take home two awards that night- Big Sis and Miss Paris Hilton. You figure it out ;-)

For mature audiences only!

We had a fun weekend with my aunt Sonja, uncle Bill and cousin, Ashley! They were supposed to come visit this past September but had to cancel their trip due to Hurricane Ike. They all had tons of fun playing with the boys and the boys ate up all of the extra attention. My aunt has all of the pictures of the boys on her camera and I'll upload them whenever she emails them!

Cousin Ashley turned 21 back on Sept. 1st and we took her out for a belated birthday extravaganza of sorts. We started out at Pat O's where Sonja and Ashley shared their first hurricane (drink). Then we ate at a random place on Bourbon St. We walked over to the carousel bar at the Montleone Hotel and had a few more rounds of drinks. We left there and headed to Cats Meow, a karaoke bar, and Ashley and I sang "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and probably shattered glass everywhere by singing so off key! The night wasn't over, if you can believe it or not! We took them to Tropical Isle and threw beads from the balcony there. Ashley has the world's largest purse and she carried tons of beads that we've had since Mardi Gras the whole night. We capped off the evening by eating a beignet and having some coffee before calling it a night.

Thanks for the fun filled weekend trip, Bill, Sonja and Ashley!!! We hope you'll come back soon :)
